It really has, when they initially announced that they were going to split it into six packs people thought it was going to be a bunch of piddly stuff. Now that five out of the six packs have released people are blown away by the new stuff like apocalypse mode, secrets societies, monopolies incorporations, revamped barbarian modes to where now they can potentially become a city-state eventually or you can pay them for protection or attacking others

just a whole bunch of stuff that they nailed that the community wanted instead of crap no one was asking for

My only gripes about Civ6 are not enough alternate leaders and the AI is still pretty dumb about their agendas.

Like, Rome still only has Trajan. By now, they could've added Julius or Augustus. America has two different Teddies,, but could've had Jefferson, Adams, or FDR.

I'm just saying, I was under the impression that multiple leader options for civs was going to be a bigger deal than it has been.

I own everything but the New Frontier Pass, how much does it actually add?

I still kind of like Civ 5 better.

In total I think there's like 8 new civs, 10 leaders, and a bunch of new game modes

They have also released four or five free updates over the past half year, every single one of them has made significant AI improvements, other civilizations are more inclined to build the more powerful wonders, their trading and bartering is better, there is an option you can click now basically telling a civilization to fuck off if they keep offering you stupid shit.

AI updates to City defenses too, other civilizations will now rebuild them ASAP instead of let them sit. Huge changes to Aerial AI late in game, now enemies will actually occasionally attack you with air units, as well as them using their air defense systems instead of letting human players casually bomb them.

I actually messed up with the Frontier Pass. Originally I wanted the Ethiopia and Babylon packs because I was more interested in the new game modes introduced with those two. I eventually sldo bought the Gaul and Byzantine pack too and figured I could just get each one separately to get everything. Turns out I wouldn't have access to the America and France alternate versions, so I ended up buying the pass when it was on sale, but overall I spent $50 on what should've just been $40.

I really had a ton of fun with Byzantine if you haven't tried them out. If you're playing with Secret Societies and Heroes and Legends, you can get a ton of faith to rebuy heroes to keep your military really strong.

The barbarian update comes out this week, I'm going to start a new game after it releases
