Current Events > Have there been any recent new users coming to GameFAQs?

I'm defining new the beginning of 2020 (so about 13 months ago).

And making new accounts from existing members don't count.

I'm asking because I'm wondering what GameFAQs (the subsidiary company of Gamespot, not the collective users) is doing to attract new people?

I find myself not even using the FAQs here anymore because I can find better information on wikias, reddit, or just the boards here in general.

The real reason I come back here is for the boards, and its more to do with habit then it is for game advice. While some people do FB, or twitter, or snapchat, or reddit, my social network fix is GameFAQs. Call it what you will. Old habits die hard.

@moodygrapes is a new user we found during an online card night on another game server and told him about Gamefaqs and got him to sign up and come post on CE. He doesn't post much but he's a legit new user.

GameFAQs occupies a niche

so new people come in all the time but chances of them making an account and posting are slim.

Most people who visit the site actually, yknow, use the site for its intended purpose.

Me too, Deku Link. While I do have an active account on reddit, I generally avoid it except for very specific forums. GameFAQs is where I planted my flag, and its not going to move unless this site dies, I die, or internet dies.

And I only use FB professionally. I mean, I don't make money off of it, but I'm in professional groups on FB where I learn things from other people of my trade. I try not to add any friends or family unless they're there professionally too. This is my only link to an internet social life I have. and I have no interest in starting another.

I used to use the FAQs, but once stuff like xboxachievements.com became a thing I stopped. Not it's mostly boards. If I cant find an answer online I like to go to the boards and search for the answer there.

Then theres CE where its just fun to see the day to day BS.

yeah I came here after a I met a couple of really nice people in a CAH game, probably wouldn't have actually used this site otherwise. Thought it looked a bit ancient and I don't really come here unless I'm mentioned but it does hold a special place in my cold little nostalgic heart

As you can see. not much as really changed. The layout became a tiny bit more modern, but its the same look and feel. To me that's a good thing. This account is from 2004, and I've actually been coming to this site since 1999. If it had changed drastically I would have just simply stopped coming.

The site has cleaned up its interface a lot, but for the most part its still very similar.
