as the biggest FromSoftware fan on this board (come at me bros) this is a blind spot in my Soulsborne games. I've heard mixed things but with it finally coming to Xbox Game Pass I guess I have no excuse. Going in completely blind other then my understanding it's some sort of an anime Dark Souls. Not really gonna be a playthrough topic, I'll just post some thoughts as I move through it (or give up if it's bad)

oh I forgot to mention, if this game is anything close to The Surge I'll be happy. That's kind of the 'worst' soulsborne game I've played that I'd recommend if that makes any sense.

Tag - been curious about this game and will be interested to see thoughts on it. Nioh 2 is currently giving me all I crave on the Souls-y front, but whenever I get around to playing another, this will almost certainly be it.

Ok so I'm enjoying the gameplay but my god is this story just melodrama anime nonsense. Every time I have to go into a memory and just stand in a room as it tells me heavy handed exposition it makes me groan.
Combat is kind of cool, I like the idea of the different gifts having different powers and needing to use them to 'unlock' them. Weapon variety isn't that different so far, but I need to mess around with it a little bit - right now it feels like combos for 1h swords are all almost the same, 2h all same, spears, etc. but that might be because I haven't tried out too much of it yet. --- ...
