Started losing weight when I started my job a bit under 2 years for the fact that it was more physically demanding than my last job (its not that bad but my previous job was super easy). Last year I also cut out sugary drinks and about 3 weeks ago I cut out pop and energy drinks in general. I also started working out again 2 weeks now that we have an elliptical at home, I have started feeling better but it made me realize how shitty I felt before.

If you don't already, start taking a fish oil/omega-3 supplement and a vitamin D supplement. Most people don't get enough of either and both contribute significantly to the functioning and health of your brain.

Meditate, practice mindfulness. If you've never done it before there's a pretty decent show on Netflix called Headspace that can get you started. They also have an app.

Sounds like you are already doing some important things for self-care. Maybe try some things also more directly related to keeping your mind healthy (not that exercise doesn't do that). Meditation and mindfulness like TDC suggested. Read any good books lately?

Oh! I've thought about giving that a shot. I got a few on my list right now already though. I just read The Great Gatsby and I'm currently reading The Lies of Locke Lamora. I also have Dune and 1984 up next. I never actually read 1984 in school.

I was in boy scouts for years and also helped my grandma with her food pantry volunteering for a few years as well. I know it can be fulfilling but I have just gotten lazy. I should start doing that again

I've heard The Lies of Locke Lamora is fantastic! I'm pushing off starting the series myself because I've been burned by both GRRM and Patrick Rothfuss and I'm hesitant to start another incomplete fantasy series, but I've also heard these are largely standalone even though it's a series... I've got a couple other fantasy series I'm going to read first, but I'll definitely be getting to this one in the next couple years. All the others you listed are great too!

I had a great counseling meeting today! I have a bit of a problem with consistency, so now I'm being more vocal about that. I tend to 'feel good' after an appointment for quite some time, but I really benefit from scheduled consistency.

Good on you for doing so much for yourself and being aware of how your mind is.

I was teasing no need to apologize lol. But yeah, meditation can seem difficult or boring at first to many, but it really can go a long way to helping improve your mental state. There have been studies that show people who regularly meditate have certain areas of their brain that are more developed. It's like working out, but the "muscle" (organ really) you're strengthening is your brain.

Every now and then, have a drink of coke or eat that piece of cake.

You'll be surprised how good and terrible it tastes all at the same time. A happy life is all about moderation IMO, not cutting things completely.

In addition to vitamin d and fish oil, you should take magnesium if you were consuming too much sugar. It helps regulate your blood sugar levels. Just don't take more than the recommended dosage or you'll have some strenuous poops.

If you're feeling low and under stimulated, try tyrosine. It helps to increase dopamine production. Just avoid if you have a family history of melanoma
