If somebody of said race was trying to downplay current-day ongoing events like people being sold into slavery then the original tweet might have a point

The reason these things keep being said, the reason why these arguments keep happening, is because we're not out of the woods on racism yet.

The war on drugs. Incarceration. Felony inability to vote. These systems are still in place.

It's not enough to say "I haven't done anything racist". It's necessary to recognize that these racist systems exist and join in on demanding their shutdown, because they won't go away on their own. They won't go away if we just look away and just focus on ourselves and our own lives.

And if your contribution is to look at statements like this and say "how dare you accuse ME", then do you really think you're looking for a solution, or are you just looking for people to be quiet and not bug you?

America's recollection of MLK is very spotty. They often forget that he very specifically called out the "white moderate" for their inaction.

And if your response to a societal problem is "it's never gonna go away, let's just give up", then you really have no place being involved in the debate in the first place, even if it is directly calling you out.

Racism is racism regardless of the speaker. Flip a few words around and you might as well post Trump's speech about Mexicans being rapists and drug dealers. It's also not a good look if you want to secure cooperation in ending institutional biases.

It's a very bad tweet and generalization that tries to mix really horrible stuff that has happened and ties it to current white people in order to make some kind of point.

You can make points about governmental and systemic impacts and consequences that have occurred due to past power imbalances and racism. But like, that's not what his tweet is doing. His tweet is trying to say white people have done x, y, z in the past, so they're not able to say something is "race baiting"?

Sins of the father and all that. Attack the governmental system, but it just seems useless to ultimately try to attack "white people"

You can do your part to combat racism by calling out the racism this topic is about. But that somehow wouldn't be anti-racist to you, and if I had to guess I'd say you don't consider this racism. In regards to convincing people and shit. Man, people are fucking sensitive. If being straight about issues won't cause them to vote the policies I want them to, then like, straight up lie to them then.
If I have to sanitize what policies i think will help reduce various racial things, then fuck it, do it. It's bad and I'll think less of those, ethically and morally, who weren't able to accept changing things to solve various racial issues unless they were framed in very sanitized way in order to not hurt their feelings and beliefs. But I just want them to vote the way I want at the end of the day.

The accusations are true in that all of the crimes and persecutions he charges white people with have stemmed from white society. But painting an ethnic group with a single brush stroke is racist.
