Haven't for years. The FAQs here are almost universally worse than video walkthroughs on YouTube where you can literally see where things are or how to do specific things, and in cases where you're just looking for raw information that isn't necessarily best conveyed in video form, nearly every game released these days has a wiki out there somewhere that's about a thousand times better than even the best FAQs this site has ever seen.

GameFAQs has pretty much been completely obsolete for about a decade now. And most of the best FAQ writers have long since stopped writing for the site.

Even the game message boards are kind of useless these days, because half the time people there won't answer whatever questions you have about a game anyway.

Sometimes. They can be good for quick references, although for other stuff it makes more sense to see a visual element such as photos or screencaps. The one kinda big advantage is that GameFaqs can have guides for obscure titles.

Never. Wikis kind of replaced FAQs/guides for me. If I'm stuck in a game I'll just google the problem.

I usually just topic search for missables or point of no returns.

I don't really care for video playthroughs since I don't want to get spoiled and I don't usually want to emulate someone's playthrough.

I also don't really need a guide to find 200 pendants since developers don't really put in rewards for exploring their game anymore and put that shit in some pass instead.

why wouldn't you use them on this site? at least on this site you aren't forced to make an account to view a FAQ or do a captcha or be inundated with ads or other b*** when all you want to do is simply find the code for Doom II for invincibility & full ammo. :P

Thats originally joined the site when I was a young warthog and I even used to make my own binders with dividers for different games I played. I had ones printed out for: Banjo-Kazooie, Dragon Warrior Monsters 2, and a few more.

Nowadays I dont really need guides in the same way and if im stuck in a part of a game I prefer walk-throughs on youtube because I learned visual learning is more my thing.

the FAQs on this site are just written by some guy who may or may not have it correct, right? And are they still walls of text you have to ctrl-f through and hope to find what you're looking for?

Objectively, googling what you want specifically is better...mostly.

Though now days you do have to skip over all the dumb recommended video links to find a written guide...so there's that annoyance. But otherwise yeah...this site is just fun for trolling forums and stuff... not much else.

Even the "good" ones are going to show you 90% stuff you don't even need to see...like a whole level played through to get that one item... and even if they don't do that...a video by nature just tells you exactly what to do...no ways to just get a hint or subtle push to figure it out on your own

Videos taking over as the main source of guides for games in the last decade or so is definitely one of those bad trends in gaming...and I say that as someone who generally prefers stuff thats seen as progress...I mean I like digital game downloads, don't mind some DLC etc... I don't consider myself resistant to new trends at all. But videos just aren't the ideal method to get what one wants in terms of game help.

Agreed. If I'm playing a game, I don't need video commentary as I go, especially if I'm using a walk thru for a dungeon in an rpg or something. I'm fighting the same trash mobs they are. If there's a piata mob, or a breakable wall, or a hidden chest, that's something I need to know. Sliding block puzzles, floor traps, by all means let me know.

What I don't need is either a screaming jackass or dude with a nasal voice and the charisma of wet cardboard narrarating every random encounter as they go in a video of the game I'm already playing.

Don't show me what I can already see. Tell me what I'm not seeing. In text form. So I don't have to keep pausing and rewinding. I can just scroll bit by bit to scan for what I need passively with a text walk thru.

Videos are for a game I'm not playing and don't have in front of me already.

Yes, I'm real.
