I've been pretty good about curbing my collecting in the last two years. It's getting to the point where I am running out of shelf space at my new apartment and I have plenty of games that I hardly even play as is.

However, I have been considering buying the hard drive for the PS2. The main reason is so I can play games that take advantage of the HDD such as Resident Evil: Outbreak, which has horrendous load times. There's also a way to play *ahem* my PS2 backup ISO files directly from the drive.

Does anybody have experience with this PS2 add-on? I've seen it priced $80-$100, which seems fairly reasonable.

Thoughts?

I got a PS2 HDD for my Japanese PS2 just for that reason alone. There's lots more games in their original Japanese release that take advantage of the HDD that their English releases don't. FFX, Wild ARMs: Alter Code F, Star Ocean 3, etc. For some reason, all support for that was removed in the English releases.

I got one initially to use an HDloader since I was always having trouble reading the blue-backed games. Claimed like 95% compatablity and of course those blue-backed games seemed to be the other bad 5%. (stupid konami games in general).

Wasn't a bad thing overall but I did fill up the hard drive before I got all my games transferred. Then I found FFXI for cheap and ended up plugging that into my PS2 for the next several years.

The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
Everything else, is theory.

This I realize. However my PS2 is connected via Component cable and I have a video capture set set up.

I could easily emulate my PS2 games that I do in fact own on my PC. The idea would be that I'm playing on actual hardware.
