However, they are becoming harder and harder to find, after all it's just a two seater honda civic from that time period. the kind of car you could beat the shit out of, so I imagine many were not treated all that well.

This one looks to be in top condition, however 7 grand seems like a lot, especially since it isn't the more coveted Si version.

I've seen this car listed for over a year now at that same price....I feel like the guy is asking too much for it, but it does look really nice.

I feel like I'll keep dreaming about my not so expensive dream car and never buy one, even when I have way more money than I do now in the future.

Is it realistic to haggle with the guy to knock off half the price? Because it doesn't seem so, but i've never really haggled on a car price before.

Yes. Especially with cash. Pick a number you don't want to spend over, don't tip your hand. Start at a number you're comfortable with. Be okay walking away if they can't meet you at a reasonable price.

A lot of car dealers just want to move inventory. They may be willing to make a slim profit, or even take a loss, just to get the car off their lot and make way for new inventory.

If they haven't had much interest in that car they may be willing to come down considerably rather than sit on it and have it lose value. Cars depreciate. Every day it's not selling is money lost

The Del Sol is a sought after car as far as I am aware. I suspect that the reason this one has been on his lot for over a year is because most people who are interested in these cars want the manual transmission and not the automatic. As somebody who doesn't know how to drive a manual, this is fine for me. I'd be willing to learn manual if I had a reason(such as purchasing one of these), but I am not really seeking that style out.

It is sought after but it's also sorta niche. I think it's worth trying to get them to come down

Because for me it isn't feeling the car in my hands, or "hey maybe I want to choose when i enter a new gear", or anything. I just like small cars and the removable targa top on these is what i'm in love with. My first two cars were Nissan Sentras(97 and 98) so the nostalgia for a smaller, early-mid 90s asian car is strong.

I don't think buying one of these is realistic right now even if I could get him to come down on price, but six months to a year from now if this is still on his lot I might see what I can do. Car looks amazing, low miles(for a 90s honda) and has the transmission I want.
