Hereditary is a fine film as I mentioned earlier but I don't get as hyped about it as others do. In my opinion it excels at being a mainstream horror film with high artistic flair but the commitment to mainstream also holds it back at the same time (Midsommar didn't have this problem). I have nothing but the highest of praise for the performances however! As for The Lighthouse, again great film on technical levels and metaphorical detail, I actually like it more on every rewatch but there's something about I don't quite love. I think it's like the opposite of Hereditary where events are portrayed in too many layers of fantasy that make it more impenetrable than it has to be. Yes I'm a fickle beast. Also while I'm here sorry I haven't done any of these in awhile, I haven't had any real internet access for the past few days and that will continue for at least a little while longer. --- I've decided to put my fears behind me. But then I think Midsommar is an insufferable movie that has a brilliant first 15 minutes and last 15 minutes and then 2 hours of absolutely nothing worth watching in the middle. --- I stream sometimes.
