Granted I could stand to lose more weight, but I'm starting to get a little worried here. I'm eating 1000-1500 cal per day, which yea should be conducive to weight loss but not this much this quickly. I'm still drinking a gallon+ per day. I'm sure some of this is water fluctuations but I've no idea how much. No alcohol besides two bud ice tall boys last night, and I drank plenty of water after

Also muscle soreness without having been exercising. I actually took this whole week off. I'm on a medication described as a mild diuretic but I feel I'm drinking enough water to counter that. I'm hesitant to go to a walk-in over something like this since $$$. Idk if I should be worried yet. What do you guys think?

Thats a lot of weight in a short amount of time. It will bounce back tho. What exactly are you afraid of to consider going to the doctor?

What was your weight when you started losing weight?

But yeah 12 pounds in 4 days is not good usually unless you were actively taking strong steps to lose weight.

What was your diet before compared to after? If you've been cutting out refined flours and cutting back on the sodium levels most of that could be water weight. But I'm not a doctor. Also what was your weight?

no change in diet. fish, chicken, frozen vegetables, frozen dinners. a few months ago it was pretty much only frozen dinners but I added the fish, chicken, and vegetables. I do get a lot of sodium but that was advised for the medication I take

Edit I asked you how much you weight and see you posted it.

Yeah you might need to mask up and go to a walk in that is not healthy for someone your size.

Oh, your syntax was bizarre. I'm considering a doctor because rapid weight loss is not normal.

It really doesn't.

Although if tc was generally dehydrated before starting to drink a lot of water he could easily just be losing retained water weight.

When wrestlers or mma fighters cut a lot of weight part of the way they do it is by drinking a fuckton of water.

Some of it probably water weight, but you actually just aren't eating enough food. Even for weight loss you need to eat more. I can't remember the exact amount, but I think it's around 1800 calories if you want lose fast (2 pounds a week) or a little over 2k to lose slowly. This is for someone your weight.

Recommend doing some research and downloading a macro app. Even if you aren't counting macros, it can help you understand an average persons caloric needs.

Bottom line, eat more. If you are still losing too fast, eat more. If nothing else, see the doctor.

2k is basically maintenance calories for an adult male.

Most people are no where near physically active enough to consistently lose weight eating 2k calories a day.

I'd give it a couple more days.

I've personally fluctuated as much as 8 pounds in a single 24 hour period. Did do 12 in 2+ days once but I was in the hospital and clear fluids only for about 50 hours.

Maintence also depends on size and such.

So if you are a 7ft tall dude you are gonna use more calories then a 52 as a baseline.

It's probably just due to water weight fluctuations and your body struggling to maintain the same amount of hydration because of the meds and sudden loss of its normal sugar/carb source. I would definitely go for a nice walk and drink lots of water. Your body will balance itself over the course of the next week and your weight loss will stabilize. It could also be due to some mild bowel blockages clearing due to the extra water and decreased foods.

The only common thing I'm aware of that the symptoms could indicate would be adult onset diabetes. If you start feeling sensations of faintness or sedation you should contact a doctor and somebody to stay with you in case you pass out. There's a very small chance its an insulin problem due to early stages of adult onset diabetes, but I'm doubtful you are presenting comprehensive symptoms by the sounds of it. Have you experienced:

  • Blurred vision
  • Slow-healing sores
  • Frequent infections
  • Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet
  • Areas of darkened skin, usually in the armpits and neck
If not then it's far, far more likely to just be the quirks of early weight lose combined with diuretics. Monitor it and keep on working that weight loss, dude!

None of these; that's a relief

And yeah I've been steadily losing weight for months now, it's just never been so rapid. But I've only been on the medication for 3 weeks so perhaps it just lagged a bit and that's what's causing this. Either way, that's a sensible post and it put me at ease a bit, so thanks for the breakdown guy.

I lost 50 lbs. over the course of a couple months a few years ago. I definitely suggest seeing a doctor if the weight loss continues unabated.

This is all dependent on what you weigh. I was about 300 pounds. Ate 2300 calories for months. Got down to 210. Dropped to 1800. Down to 190 now.

When they say 2k is for maintaining they mean the "average" man. As in, not most people.
