I used to carry a Zippo, but the fuel dries out over time so unless you keep it topped up all the time it's basically useless. But I recently discovered they make an insert that can convert your Zippo into either an electric arc lighter or a butane jet lighter. I went with the electric because it can be charged anywhere you can find a USB port. I just wish they made them in brass as well as chrome.



Why a Zippo? Because it's the original fidget toy.

Nah. I used to have a sweet antique Ronson lighter, but I lost a piece of it and figured it would be hard to replace it so I gave it away.

If I was ever in a position where I needed to start an emergency fire "on the go", the global situation/my personal situation would have to be so utterly fucked that the ability to start a fire likely wouldn't be enough to help me in any way regardless.

Typically a naphtha or butane lighter. Mostly just in case, though I'll smoke once in a while.

There's a first aid kit in my car that has something, but on me personally; never.

No, but I keep matches in my car. There aren't that many situations where I'd need to start a fire, so I keep them as an emergency item in my car instead of on my person. By contrast, I carry a pocketknife because that tends to come in handy more often with opening packages, etc.

Without a utility belt, there are only so many things you can carry on you. And a utility belt is a little conspicuous, especially if you go with a bright yellow, which is also why I leave my shark repellent at home.
