Because being hungry sucks. People need to stop telling people to eat less. Eat better and you won't be hungry, and you'll consume less calories.

Eating better can be financially damning to some. Healthy food costs more. And don't do the "just eat these couple thongs every single day" argument. Nobody wants to live in the misery of eating the same things every single day. Especially if they don't even like them much to begin with.

But I mean, if you do have the money and you're spending it carelessly and eating trash along side that. Yeah, maybe plan different.

i'm never really hungry and i splurge on the occasional junk meal like twice a week and snack almost every night.. the latter has become a bad habit because of the obv stupid thing going on in the world right now.

the difference is that i also work out consistently and maintain a healthy figure by eating fruits and getting protein etc.

i'd probably be more ripped if i didn't maintain my current eating habits but on the flipside i still look fit without having to sacrifice my vices.

what exactly is so hard about losing weight

There is a lot of misinformation out there because the methods with visibility are the ones that make someone else money -- could be a workout gimmick, a diet gimmick, a weight-watcher's system (which tethers you to their food products), etc. "Eat less of the food you already do, and maybe have some more veggies when you're hungry" actually saves money -- there is no market for it. So it's drowned out in favor of "use this ONE WEIRD TRICK that personal trainers refuse to tell you about"

And then once you crest over that hill, there's all sorts of mental reprogramming necessary and people locked in a "denial" mindset are prone to backsliding on the indulgence. Like, constantly saying "I can't have cake I can't have caker I can't have cake" will eventually cause you eat an entire cake one lonely and sad night. Measuring out portions and doing calorie math and cooking food in advance is a massive lifestyle shift for someone who does none of those things.

Better off eating more meals, so you don't end up binging on the one meal you allow yourself. I ate one meal a day for years and it isn't like I lost a ton of weight. I also found that my bowels were much more unreliable and never knew when the urge would strike. Now that I actually eat more than once a day, I feel better, sleep better, and am much more regular.

I agree it's more expensive, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. Cut out liquid calories and drink water. Buy chicken thighs and drumsticks. Buy veggies, eggs, and fruit.

No need to get organic and all those superfoods. Just cut out the shit.

It sounds gross but it tastes great and is far healthier than just regular brownies.

I'm unintentionally intermittent fasting. I work as a mover/driver and don't eat for the first time until dinner usually (I find if I eat before/during work I'll get too lethargic or an upset stomach). I've lost around 40lbs in about 3 months with nothing more than that and the physical aspect of my job which is like spending the day at a gym.

Losing weight takes more effort than maintaining a certain weight.

I'd say it's partially laziness, but also because people lose motivation when they're working hard, but don't feel like they're making progress. Usually happens during that plateau after the water weight comes off.

Pretty much.

Knowing the mechanics of fat loss was one thing; implementing it was another altogether.

I had to overcome so much shit, mentally and physically, before I could handle my eating problem safely and responsibly. AA was actually one of the most helpful things but it also took a lot of education and getting past the "conventional wisdom" prevalent in the weight loss sector.

I do all that. But I'm forced to eat healthier due to it immediately making me feel like shit. Eggs are definitely a good affordable alternative to other breakfasts. Fruit really matters where you can get sales. That completely dictates how much fruit I get. I can afford a pack of Razzberries for $2. But when it's $4 just for a snack that won't dent my hunger? Can't do it. Same with grapes being above 1.50-2 a pound. Chicken is definitely affordable if you don't need anything fancy. And as far as Steak and stuff goes, you should earn that. As someone who is lazy and apathetic most the year, I don't feel like steak is deserved lol. You should actually accomplish something to get steak. But that's a whole othet argument in that, raising minimum wage. Which I won't get into. But if you work 7-8 hours a day, a steak at the end of each day if you want it shouldn't be breaking you.

It doesn't help that some people at the gym can be absolute assholes too. Most are decent but I've seen douchebros openly ridiculing and laughing at people who should really be applauded.

Like yeah what they're doing would be nothing for you or me, but its an entire routine change and a massive struggle for someone who's way overweight and has been sedentary for most of their lives. Then you have to make it even harder by being an asshole.

If you're used to eating healthy, being active and lost weight before, it can feel like a breeze.

But for the people who have struggled for years, and grew up with junk food and not bring physically active, it's as mental just as physical.

not to mention, it's hormonal for some, and that makes it harder to lose weight.

Having that mentality and drive doesn't hapoen overnight either.

It takes a lot more mental strength to break through the initial physical suffering imo. Especially if you haven't even experienced the benefits of being in good shape before and don't even have anything to compare your current condition to.

When I got outta hospital after abdominal surgery and weighed 123lbs doing anything physical was far more mentally taxing than it has ever been any other time.

First cause it's hard as fuck to just do anything and second because its so easy to tell yourself "fuck it im barely doing anything anyways so whats the point"?

It takes a lot to push through that.

As someone who's lost 100 pounds by just exercising and not changing diet. It's kind of hard if you're a person who doesn't want to change your eating style. During winter it gets hard because I know for me, I eat out of boredom and the moment I think about food I'm just thinking oh I'll eat this and work it off ezpz. It's winter buddy.

Definitely a mentality thing and you can get addicted to eating food and feeling better. I don't eat to feel better, but I do eat for boredom AND for pleasure. It's a horrible combo, and I have to be conscious of it actively. It's something I have to work through, and honestly figured a solid way. I bought a vitamix and make tasty veggie fruit smoothies. So the moment I get bored and think I have to eat because I'm bored, I get entertained thinking about what fruit and veggie smoothie I make. And since I think about the smoothie and how to make it taste good, it hits the pleasure (good taste) part for me. So I think I solved it by buying a 300 dollar blender. It also helps to hit regret when I make a bad tasting smoothie and have to drink 4 cups of a shittily made kale smoothie augh...more motivation for next time to make it taste good.

The fruit and veggie smoothies I make are like 8 cups for...500-700 calories total. I end up drinking 4-6 cups and I FEEL STUFFED. It gets the boredom out of me. These past weeks I've been working on making kale taste good without using cheaty mangos (because they're fucking 46 god damn grams of sugar for an entire mango), and I actually succeeded. So at least my boredom aspect of eating resolved that for me. To find a way to make kale taste good fulfills my boredom and pleasure problems.

Next up is broccoli. Spinach is ez pz. Romaine hearts I just solved, 2 apples, 2 carrots, a bit of frozen mango, and don't underestimate the power of diluting smoothies with just water.

Not really.

I'd need a bench, barbell, dumbells, pull up bar, and a couple hundred lbs of weights at the very least.

And id want a squat rack really badly.

Its better than nothing but definitely not the same as having access to a decent gym.

I overstated it i guess and doing anything is obviously far better than nothing, but there's still a lot to be said for having everything and having no concerns about pissing neighbour's off.
