Just a little article I came across.

In-speak has taken hold in right-wing media, too. Peruse Conservatism Inc. these days and youll see its become so dependent on inside references and shared fictions, that its inaccessible to the general public, even as its more thrilling to fans.

The right-wing media bubble isnt new, but its gotten deeper, more self-referential, and less accessible to outsiders. With a fictional universe, that can make for a fun fan experience, allowing more complicated storytelling with a greater variety of characters.

I took a tiny break from engaging in political shit after the election and Jan 6th, but after diving back in after the inauguration I've definitely noticed this when I talk to or argue with some folks on the right. Extraordinarily difficult to engage with someone when you have no idea wtf they're talking about.

noticing conservatives turning on fox news, and when newsmax/oan eventually collapse because too little viewership for sufficient ad revenue...most of them won't bother with fox news anymore either because they "turned on trump" (ppl literally say this lmao)

so with any luck, fox news will collapse by the end of this year or next year if their cancel culture fear-mongering loses steam when no one is getting cancelled and when Daddyy Biden gives out a few more rounds of stimulus and makes the child UBI permanent

I know it's always been bad, but the fact that OAN and Newsmax gained viewers during Trump's insane post-election meltdown simply because even Fox had enough journalistic standards to not spread deliberate misinformation is a real problem.

The ads that run on Newsmax don't really seem like the type that would be affected much by calls for mass boycotts. If you used to watch the local UHF channel at three in the morning, you have a pretty good idea of what sort of commercials are running.

I don't pay attention to major news outlets and it's hilarious that they are claiming the right wing media is in a bubble lol

Fox is shady as all hell, but it's funny to compare their network to a movie universe when Hollywood is almost exclusively left-leaning and filmmakers frequently exercise their right (personal responsibility?) to promote the values and politics which match their personal standpoints.

The left is armed with news media and entertainment media. The right has only "news" media which they treat like entertainment.

I thought right wing news channels had higher viewership? Right wing radio news is definitely dominant and print media I thought was about the same. Broadcast TV wise doesn't Sinclair have the largest share?

Fox really can't get away with that level of deliberately wrong information, instead relegating it to stuff like Tucker Carlson to dog whistle.

The bulk of the noise comes from theocrats, regressives, and Ayn Rand loons.

It's been interesting to see National Review coming to terms with how nutty the current GOP is. If you read some of their articles now, you'd never believe they were once the most respected conservative think tank. They went hard against Trump and all the GOP members that supported him.

The party knows it needs a shakeup, but it's also afraid of losing power while shaking up.

My brother and I have always had radically different views but we used to be able to at least talk about things, even if only on a superficial level. We might have had some awkward disagreements about what the real problems are and what the solutions could be but it was never anything serious.

He's just gone at this point. He immediately starts talking about the craziest shit and, if I question or challenge him, tells me to look up these videos before they're taken down or go read so and so's blog. He's constantly latching onto every new conspiracy like I did with toy fads in the 90s. Everything is getting more extreme and he just keeps going along with it, to the point that nobody can keep up with him if they wanted to.
