I ended up buying it this month just in case I fancy replaying one of the games at some point. Not touched it yet.

I also bought the Fire Emblem game (but I've not played that one before, so I'm far more likely to give it a go at some point).

The limited release is scummy practice, but it works, haha.

Honestly, I would never probably get 3D All-Stars if it was a normal release, but the fact that it is going away soon makes me want to get it "just in case". Which is insane and I'm actively fighting my impulse to do so.

wait, is the NES Fire Emblem also limited time? I kinda lost interest in that series but might check it out as well

i don't like sunshine at all really and mario 64 isn't nearly as fun for me anymore but galaxy with a new control scheme sounds like a big deal for someone like me with cerebral palsy and got severe cramps playing it on the wii

i might get it at the end of the month if i have money left over but i haven't decided yet

Its not worth it. I only have it because I found it used on a yard sale app for $40. Im sure once it goes out of print itll go up in price but Im not concerned about that really.

that's the other thing, asking full price for a bare-bones collection is a tad much but that's pretty typical for Nintendo sadly

I like having those games on the go. Personally, I had no issues at all with Mario 64. I got the 120 stars, so I played through every level in the process.

I have yet to start up Sunshine or Galaxy.

The emulation is fine, but if you already have them and don't care for the convenience of playing them on Switch, there's no point.

the thing about Sunshine though is the lack of analog shoulder buttons, which fucks with how FLUDD is used

I believe it's also March 31st it goes off, but I may be wrong there.

I'm really curious to see what happens with the price of this after 03/31. On one hand, they printed an absolute fuckton of copies - almost every Walmart I've been to since release has had stacks of copies on the shelf floor, since they can't fit them all in the main display. I've never seen anything like it. Also, you just know a ton of resellers are going to flood the market immediately after 03/31 and keep supply above demand in the short term.

This makes me think that Mario 3D All-Stars will be like the SNES Classic, where Nintendo printed so many that they weren't viable for resale until a couple years later. The key difference, though, is that Switch owners are a different breed. They're far more willing to throw crazy money at current-gen software than previous generations. Ultra Street Fighter II regularly sells for $60+ used and $80+ sealed, despite being a bare-bones budget release with a reasonably large print run. And that's just one example.

I do think Nintendo will do this "limited release" tactic regularly now, since it was obviously a big success for them and got people talking. That's bad for gamers, but as Nintendo customers, I guess we're used to that by now... >_>

Thing is, any switch collector who cares even a little bit already bought it. No one is going to immediately want it in April at an inflated price. Its going to take years and most of the value will come from kids ruining the case or cover art, and mint condition copies being sought after.

Of the three I'm only really interested in Galaxy (never played it before) and I could borrow my brother's Wii and play it on that instead
