Howdy all. We are planning to roll out some pretty big changes to GameFAQs soon and we would like more input. The tl;dr is that we are combining all releases for a game into a single product, so there is a single place to find info for all releases of a game and all its expansions and dlcs and so on (instead of separate sections of each console and expansion). Along with that, we have taken the opportunity to make some long overdue improvements to the various parts of the site including the message boards.

The mods have been checking it out and have given some feedback for us to work on and now we would like a more broad audience as well before we start making our final changes.

If you are interested AND are willing to give us some feedback, feel free to post here and let me know. I'm about to eat dinner so I'll check back shortly and invite some folks in. Thanks!

So like, for Chrono Trigger there'd be a collective board which includes the snes, psx, NDS, android, ios, and steam releases?

I'll take a look if you want feedback from someone who's been here from pretty much the start.

So we're going to start adding in games with different content? Like how we have Spider-Man for Xbox being different to the PS2 and GameCube despite being the same title?

Or will you still be separating them on the page so we can determine if we're looking at A I E X copying a X vs Y guide to post?

Do message boards get extra post flair like reddit to separate game versions?

and absolutely not interested in the experiment but am wondering how this will pan out

RV has a lot of interest in GF, which is why we're able to roll out a pretty huge update like this just a couple months after transitioning over.

sounds like a good idea. i pretty much just go to the sony board first for a multiplatform game since they're generally the most popular. know a lot of people do it even if they play on xbox or pc so makes sense to just combine them.

When you say long overdue improvements to the message boards, can you specify what? I really hope you aren't taking a "modern" approach just because of how other sites work. One of the main things I like about this forum is the lack of modern trends. I like that there aren't up/down votes, I like that there aren't avatar pics, sig pics, etc cluttering everything, I like that topics have activity based on actual posts instead of trending based on clicks or views, I like that there's no "reputation"; everyone is just given a username and everyone can post as just people posting without a bunch of muddled stuff.

If you make any systematic changes like that, I guess you are the admin and it's your say, but I'm throwing this out for you to either reconsider or maybe take in more feedback, since this isn't a very big site anymore and the people that are on it have probably grown to like these things. We can go anywhere else for that style of forum. On second thought, if this is your primary job/income and you need to mold to modern trends to make ends meet, I guess I can't blame you for that. I'm just voicing why I still come here as opposed to not.

While I get the expansions, I thought guides for games already cross posted between consoles, usually with, say, Walkthough (ps2) for a pc version.

There are flairs to help differentiate which version of a game content is created for.

And yeah I 2nd the old school feel of Gamefaqs boards. That's why I love them so much. They don't have all this dumb bloat that modern message boards have. Please keep that spirit intact, SBAllah

They do, but no other content crossposts in this manner so if you're searching for info that's on the message boards or answers section or etc, you can miss it depending on the version you're on.
