Anyone have any remedies? Ive tried tums and Pepcid ac. I only get temporary relief from those, if at all. Ive tried ginger tea. Also eating smaller meals, not eating past 7 pm, sleeping elevated. I havent slept lying down fully for over a month and thats been horrible in a different way.

It constantly feels like my chest is on fire and acid reflux is horrible. Its been weeks and Im starting to lose my mind. Ive asked my doc and he just shrugs and tells me to hang in there a few more weeks. Imma lose it people.

I used it have it so bad that all I could eat was cooked ham and mashed potatoes for almost a year. None of those PPI's helped so I eventually tried the complete opposite and took a HCL with Pepsin capsule before every meal. I can eat the spiciest shit imaginable now with zero issues, it may not work for everyone but it gave me my life back. The pill creates more stomach acid instead of suppresses it, why that would work I have no idea but there are tens of thousands of review on amazon singing the praises of different brands.

Omeprazole 20mg (40mg if its really bad). Its about $15 for a months OTC. Can be prescribed and insurance covers some depending on who you have.

You might want to have an endoscopy to determine the cause. I had some scans done and have a hiatal hernia even though a doc thought it was my gall bladder and did unnecessary surgery.

I gotta take a pill for that.

My acid reflux gets so bad that I puke if i don't take it.

Years of alcoholism probably doesn't help.

Probably should find a doctor i guess. Having heart burn all day long everyday is not normal. And the things like tums and pepcid are only used for occasional acid reflux type stuff. They can't really cure it like a prescribed medicine can. They are just used for relief and toning down symptoms for someone who gets it only sometimes

Hmm looks like I can just get that off Amazon. Thank you! Looks to be safe during pregnancy as well. Ill ask my doc to be sure

Yeah I try to eat bland food. One night I had nothing but plain rice for dinner and still had horrible heartburn/acid throughout the night

Hmm that seems more iffy in pregnancy but will ask my doc as well. Thank you!

My cause is pregnancy lol. Hormones are causing my body to relax overall, including my esophagus. My uterus is pushing up too. And I feel like baby is constantly stretching her legs up and making it worse.

I take Pantoprazole. I assume very similar, a proton-pump inhibiter?

I highly recommend it.

I don't even know what that is really.

I dunno if I want a prescription as I only have a few more weeks to deal with it (at least I hope)

Ill ask my doc about the OTC options suggested but that wont be until Monday.

Does anyone know of natural remedies I can try in the meantime? Ive heard conflicting things about warm milk and honey for one.

IIRC, some people have too little acid, so antacids and the like don't help or make it worse.

I've had that happen but not frequently. Also due to alcohol. Wine seems to be the worst for it. Liquor doesn't do as much, but it dis happen the other night... then again it was probably also because I was stoned and ate a bunch of taco bell and drank a ton of water. Stomach could not handle all of that lol.

The only thing that helps me I've had it bad for the longest time. Well, besides Zantac, but I wouldn't take that.

I'm not even sure. I lost 100 pounds a few years ago (steadily over the span of like 18 months) and my doctor thinks my stomach just kept producing the same amount of stomach acid regardless of not needing it.

Yeah, I've been taking Pantaprozole as well since Covid fucked me up. It helps, but not enough where I'm acid reflux-free 24/7.

On and off a few months. Consistently the last 6 weeks I would say. Its just nonstop no matter what I do. Im lucky I have an adjustable Casper mattress so Im able to sleep elevated easily. It used to help but now I just wake up every hour in pain no matter what I do. And sleeping elevated makes my hips hurt a shit ton because I have to sleep on my sides. But I still cant lie down or I wake up choking on acid.

Keep in mind it takes a few hours for omeprazole to work. Once it does though you're golden. Long as you take it around the same time every day you should very rarely get heartburn

If it just lasts for the duration of your pregnancy and isn't any longer term than that, it probably won't do any lasting damage. The reason I'm saying this is that as an ex-alcoholic who suffered from terrible acid reflux throughout the final year of drinking, I found out by accident afterwards (thanks to a gastroscopy for other reasons) that it had left me with Barrett's oesophagus, which is potentially pre-cancerous and I now need to be routinely monitored for the rest of my life.

Not trying to freak you out, just tipping you off that it might be wise to be checked out for long-term damage at some stage if this keeps up.

Nothing has helped me more than aloe juice, you'd have to make sure it's fine to drink during pregnancy but I don't see why not. If you try it, don't get the sugary aloe drink that's like 10% aloe, get a 100% one on Amazon or somewhere like that, I use one called Lily of the Desert and you mix in a shot or two with any drink twice a day. You gotta stick with it for a few days to a week before noticing a difference, but I went from having issues multiple times a week to not having it ever again a couple years later. It helped me more than any pill, and I tried just about everything non-prescription.
