Yeah my old company offered me a promotion in NYC with a slight pay increase.

But after crunching the numbers, despite what technically would have been a pay increase, it would have been *like* a 20-30% pay decrease in terms of quality of life when comparing the massive difference in cost of living between the two cities. I passed.

So I guess the technical answer is yes, but I turned down a *decrease* in actuallity.

Yes. I just did a few weeks ago actually.

I make pretty good money right now and got offered a job for 20% more. I said it wasnt enough for what they wanted me to do and asked for 80% more than what they offered. They couldnt do it but came up a little. I ended up giving them a lowest number that was 50% more than what Im making. They didnt meet it so I walked away.

It sucks because this other job seemed like it had a lot of good perks but it just wasnt worth the risk of joining a new company right now if it wasnt going to be for a decent amount of money.

I've left jobs taking a pay cut in order to make a career change a couple of times. I don't regret either time.

Despite having worked in my current field since 2013, I'm earning less than I did in what I was doing before, but I'm much happier.

I once took a pay cut for a better job. Then I got fired.

I'm now taking a better job for a pay increase. I shall try to hold onto this one.

Depends on your interpretation.

I'm very much into trying to make the world a better place and good will to all men and all that jazz. I don't believe that most of the stuff in the bible happened, nor am I even sure that there's a God, but I'm all about living like there is one either way.

yea, it was in the same program.

I would have been responsible for the program's budgets, but I did some accounting at a previous job, and I've hated working with money ever since.

but after turning down the job, I do a lot of the same stuff I would have been doing anyway, but I have to work with an intermediary for purchasing, settling accounts, etc.

No. But I work for the state government, so we don't just randomly get offered promotions. You have to willingly apply for any positions that are available.

Well I live in Pittsburgh, the promotion would have been in NYC with about a 10% pay increase. But the cost of living difference is so huge between the two cities, it would have actually been more like a pay cut.

I've visited Manhattan. I loved it, but I'm really not sure I would want to live there anyway. Just too crowded for me. Pittsburgh is a very small city compared to Philadelphia, NYC, Chicago, Boston, etc. It's about the same size as Cleveland and it's just right for me.

Jesus was very much against organized religious values at the time. He was actually very socially liberal at the time. He made sinners his apostles and was all about establishing relationships and loving one another.

Shame, many Christians don't know or realize this.

Yeah. I left one job to make slightly less, for the sake of my mental health. Many times I've been offered spots at places I new I'd probably hate, and I can't just "try" jobs out hoping I'll like them. I have a mortgage lol
