One of the managers at the store i work in is dating a 24 year old that used to work there. He's at least 50... Obviously they are both consenting adults so whatever. but recently I found out he invites other younger people who work at the store to hang out at his house.
He invited me (24m) to hang out there along with his girlfriend and another 30ish year old woman. Thats kind of a weird thing to do right?? No one I have mentioned works directly under this guy/in the same department as him, which is a positive thing. I'm not saying the guys a super creep or anything but dang I hope he's got some friends his own age... Now how do I politely decline this extremely awkward invitation?? --- Don't ask. ... Seems to me he just likes em young. Providing they are legal who cares? I certainly don't have any issue with friends being younger or older then someone too. If you meet someone you get on with and it's legal then age shouldn't be a issue.
Now how do I politely decline this extremely awkward invitation?? It's best to be direct as this clearly bothers you. Just tell him your not interested. Although it seems he's just being friendly. --- One who knows nothing can understand nothing. http://psnprofiles.com/wwinterj - https://imgur.com/guXxsmA ... Copied to Clipboard!

It depends, I guess. Like, if you know him well, or talk to him a lot, it would probably be ok. If you don't, it's a little creepy. But I don't really see it creepy because of the age or anything... But that's me. Some people don't like it when there are age differences. But age doesn't matter to me, as much... Like I'd probably hang out with that video playing grandma just fine because we have common interest. Or if someone much older wanted to watch a show together, I'd have no problem. But maybe my jobs have also helped out with that, as well, since I've worked with people of many different ages and stuff...

I'm in my 30's (male) and the two people at work I get along with the best and actually talk to outside of work are a guy in his 50's and a guy in his late 60's.
On the other end of things, my last D&D group had a few people my own age, one 15 years older, and a couple that were a decade younger. Got along w/ all of them. Maybe you guys just get hung up on age too much, personality, interests, and hobbies is what matters. *shrug* ... Copied to Clipboard!

My Covid FWB is 12 years younger than me.
It wasn't a grooming thing, it just sort of developed from circumstance. We neatly bracket a generation that I was on the tail end of when she "got there". We just barely share the same touch points culturally from different ends, so it works. For now. I don't ask too many questions because it works for now. It is what it is. It's a weird thing to do and unprofessional, but it's not necessarily skeevy. Over the years, I've had older and younger co-workers who I've hung out with, etc, outside of work. And I also know a few older couples who have friendships with younger couples (non-sexual... afaik). Perhaps unsurprisingly, you aren't necessarily going to have more in common with somebody just because they're your same age or race. A lot of that will come down to interests and personalities. I know that this board is fucking obsessed with race, but it's less of a defining characteristic than people make it out to be. There's more to people than their race, politics, religion, etc.

Can be creepy, but not automatically because of age.
When I worked on the cruise lines, this was fairly common. Most people are under 30 or 50 & over (isn't exactly conductive to a family lifestyle). I had some real cool friends in their 50's when I was in my 20's. ... Copied to Clipboard!

If he's in his 50s and dating a 24-year-old, there's nothing illegal about that at all because she is an adult. When I was 21 I dated a 33-year-old woman and it only lasted like 5 months because at that time I was very immature and we had nothing in common except sex but I learned some things and the experience was great.
