I have 9 years seniority in my department, and 2 faculty members below me (7 and 1 year) got courses to teach as an adjunct for the summer, and I did not. This is against the contract. Do I...

1.) go against the administration which has fired countless people over the past several years, with many people leaving/resigning only a couple of years in. i can file a grievance and my union will help me. i can be entitled to a full course salary (about 4k) for the violation.
2.) keep my mouth shut and avoid endangering my full time job, for which I do not have tenure

Had those last five words been the first, it would have saved me time reading.

Do you get tenure next year? If not how long before you get it?

Maybe before filing any sort of grievance or the like, just inquire why you were not offered summer courses.

Based on their answers you can evaluate your next steps.

I got full-time last year. I won't get it for like another 6 years. But I plan on moving after next year to live with my soon to be wife in Memphis (I'm currently in the northeast)

Part time until this past year

Inquired to the dean. Will take action based on that. I think the Executive VP (who is the big boss, basically) is the one who made the call though. My hope is that the dean offers to work with her to fix it, rather than me having to take it to her. She's the big bad who chops down peoples' careers.

If you plan on leaving then yeah, I would say bring it up to the appropriate contact. Either union rep or school rep.

update: dean messaged me, and said I "should have" gotten a course. said it was "a mixup" (no idea what the means), and now i'll be offered a stats course to teach (in other words, they are booting some poor sap off of the one with his name on it...kind of feel bad), sadly it's one that will be more work than the other (synchronous rather than asynchronous, for which I've taught before and have all the materials ready. I technically should have been eligible to choose that one instead, but whatever). I'm happier with that than nothing, so that's a win.
