Like, in a non-ironic "lol you have pet rats" kind of way, they are LEGITIMATELY the best, most entertaining and personal pets I've owned other than dogs. They're just amazing. It's crazy that nobody seems to want them as pets.

I'd probably consider it if I was single. I have a dog and can't really afford multiple pets, and if I was single I wouldn't be able to afford a dog.

Their lifespans are just too short for my tastes. If pet rats lived 10+ years then I'd consider it.

We had rats as pets and they were indeed like dogs. They always ended up with gigantic tumors though.
