I really like the bottom center Breitling and I like the Omega but the crystal looks super scratched

7/10 as far as my tastes, but definitely some money there

Not a single scratch on the crystal, but I get why you would think that. You need to observe it from closer to see that the dial is meteorite (pic below of the actual watch). It's super cool when you see it up close, because it looks different depending on lighting or the angle you look at it from.

Seems so! I got it about a month ago. Loving it so far, got the nato strap this week so I'm wearing it on that now. The value is great and it's super comfy. Perfect sports watch for warmer weather and swimming.

How was the wait list for the tudor? Think I'll try to pick one up next time I'm in Vegas so I can try it on first

My concerns:
1. No date function
2. No AR coating on the crystal
3. 47.75mm lug to lug is a bit long for my wrists (6.25")
4. No quick micro adjustment on the bracelet. Speaking of, how comfy do you find the bracelet?

I waited 1 month, but I've seen ADs in my area with this watch in their display windows, so it seems they can be gotten without waiting. Some ADs might make you wait 1-2 months. Getting it with a bracelet is difficult as the nato strap version seems to be readily available. I wouldn't get it with the nato since you'll end up losing money buying the bracelet after compared to buying it with a bracelet and buying the nato later.

  1. I get that, and I do like a date too, however with some watches I like a dial without a date for a cleaner look. I use my phone for the date when wearing those watches.
  2. That can be a plus as AR coating can smudge and scratch pretty easily which can be very ugly if you decide not to fix it. Not only that, the blue hue you get from AR coating is not to everyone's tastes. I personally like the look of flat crystals without AR coating like on your typical Rolex.
  3. My wrists are 6.5 inches and it fits like a glove. I suggest you try it on, with 6.25 inch wrists it will feel great.
  4. Yup, it's unfortunate Rolex/Tudor didn't go the extra mile on the clasp. The bracelet is alright but not great. It's the only bracelet watch I have that somehow manages to pull hairs every now and then. (I have bracelets with all my watches you see except the old Navitimer (top left).

Ah OK thanks. Luckily I don't have any arm hair so that pulling shouldn't be an issue. I'll try the watch on at an AD next chance I get. My blue diver is currently the Christopher ward c60 gmt

One other thing which is more to due with design is the way the bracelet tapers. It looks a little more clumsy compared to the other bracelets in my collection. Basically instead of gradually tapering, the bracelet essentially has 3 different sized links. I haven't measured but seems to be 20mm from the lug until the first taper, then 18mm, then 16mm.

It's not a big complaint but it just doesn't look as refined as other brands. It's not a very expensive expensive watch so these details might be expected.

I wouldn't mind as much if I could get it grey market at grey market prices, like I did for my aqua terras. But I essentially have to pay full price for it, so it is still annoying to not be completely perfect

Nice collection! Definitely some big boy pieces there. I like that Speedmaster and Black Bay 58.

Definitely needs to be a watch community forum on GameFAQs.

How do you like the rolex? I feel like I need rolex and an omega speedmaster for any sort of collection i do to feel complete, and I want a grand seiko as my center piece.

Like which ones do you actually wear the most? Breitlings always looked cool to me but I just can't imagine wearing most of them.

I really like them. I got them in 2016 before prices started going crazy, I probably wouldn't buy one today since the market value has more than doubled compared to what I paid. If you can get on the list for a new one at retail then that's pretty decent.

I mean it's really more about what you want than about what you need. I know so many people who bought stuff because they thought every collection needed it and ended up not being happy with it. That said, the Speedmaster is definitely a watch everyone should check out, it's a perfect watch for an enthusiast. They are effing great watches and can bet bought at very reasonable prices especially the previous model (it received a big update about 2 months ago).

I probably wear my Breitlings the most, they are my favorites in my collection.

Holy shit I didn't realize how expensive rolex's have gotten. I could have sworn only 3 years ago a used but good condition Submariner was $5k and maybe 10 years ago was like $2500.

have you had to pay for much / any maintenance?

Yeah, I remember looking at Pepsi GMT masters in 2016 for around 4-5k in very reasonable condition. You can't get a good one for below 12-13k these days.

In the case of Rolex it's maybe $500 for a service which is typically every 12+ years. This is if you demand only the movement is serviced (no polishing, replacement crystal & hands, etc).
