There isnt because its pretty hard (if not impossible at a useful scale) to quantify given youd have to track down non-victims of at least a thousand or so crimes and then verify that they were there, were armed, and managed to resist being victimized through that fact to some defined degree. In reality, this defense is centered around the idea that if someone can defend themselves through the use of a gun (which they can), then they should be able to. Imagine bars and clubs and what people already do under the influence. You also assume that every human is constantly in a large crowd of people all the time. A kid visiting his teacher cause he's failing. An abusive spouse taking away their spouse's gun. Somehow filtering every "mentally unstable" person would need the magic of the Harry Potter sorting hat. You have no idea what's going on with anyone at a given time or what anyone is capable of if you really think that monsters can't disguise themselves. There just is so much potential for bloodshed and everyone would be walking around with an active stressor of murder on the mind. And that alone is gonna drive people crazy.
