I like a lot of their songs but I cant stand listening to their albums start to finish. Theyre a complete opposite to The Postal Service in that regard.

They're a total relic of their time, and I'd never feel comfortable listening to them nowadays. They were definitely a higher point of that early late '90s/early '00s indie stuff.
My hot take, I guess, is that some of their best songs were on the "you can play these songs with chords" compilation cd, and their best full length was The Photo Album.

Some good songs here and there but they're one of the most boring bands I've ever seen live.

Never cared for 'em, the voice kinda gets on my nerves. It's like...too cartoony or something.

I feel thats pretty harsh. They have some timeless stuff like Transatlantism, Title and Registration, I Will Follow You Into the Dark, I Will Possess Your Heart, etc.

Listened to all their albums besides Thank You for Today(I really should go and listen to that one now that this has been brought up) and the only one I didn't like and haven't listened to multiple times was Codes and Keys.

I just feel like it was cool way back then, and was oversaturated on peoples' Myspaces, Blurties, Livejournals, etc. Like the music equivalent of stuff like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Donnie Darko, Virgin Suicides, etc.
Like the music is objectively good and well written for its genre. It stands up as some of the better lo-fi indie stuff, especially from that era -- but it feels too much like that era to ever feel timeless. It always feels like a throwback to the early '00s to me, which wasn't a time I particularly liked or was fond of in retrospect - so I feel odd listening to them.
You could probably say the same thing about Bright Eyes - but I was obsessed with Conor Oberst when I was like 16 and literally listened to nothing else, so my nostalgia is way too strong.

lmao. Death Cab are not a high point of late 90s/early 00s indie. They're one of the worst

wow you have crappy taste in music. pretty ironic coming from someone with a Jarmusch quote, who's an indie guy. indie rock is good. Death Cab and emo suck though

They're basically the Hollywood Undead of the early 00s.

Wait, what? Like what? Like I can understand not liking them, or liking their songs, but not the albums or any of the other things posted in here. But this just makes no sense. Like it is objectively false.
