I watched the original subs up to like the synchronized ballroom dancing episode, a while ago. Id like to start from the beginning again. Which version? Original dub, Netflix dub, subs? Are there different subtitle translations?

yeah subs is what Im leaning towards, but does Netflix have the same subtitles as, say, the original version? Was it only re-voiced in English?

IMO, completely avoid the Netflix version.

Id avoid the Netflix version, but only because the US release took out Fly Me To The Moon.

I mean I guess its not essential, but itd be like watching House MD without Teardrop. Or Season 1 of Pokmon without Pikachus Jukebox. >_>

Original dubs from the platinum collection. Then end of eva from the 02 dvd release.

For the rebuild, wait until 4.0 drops stateside

does Netflix have some scenes of taken out? In episode 2, I distinctly remember shots of Shinji in the Eva screaming and raging out as he pounds the Angel when reminiscing at the end of the episode, but it wasnt in the Netflix episode 2

I compared the dubs between the old version and the Netflix one.. it's a toss up - certain characters completely lose their charm while others kinda help bring alot more sense to the narrative (I thought Shinji's dad was overexaggerated in the original dub but in the Netflix one he is 'fleshed' out a bit more in terms of actually considering Shinji as anything)

That being said, I enjoyed the dub experience of the older one more.. there's some not so great voice acting (especially from Asuka when she first makes her appearance) but I think it adds charm in terms of bringing me back to an 'era' of a time when Evangelion was a thing.

Original subs or the old dub is the preferred way to watch it. I hear the Netflix version isn't great and the subs change a lot.

When it first came out it had a few new scenes in it (although not great amounts) but I assume the Netflix version put those scenes back in the appropriate episodes.
