This year is getting worse and worse for me. I got The Rona in February, and then a few weeks ago my grandmother got it and died, I think Im going to be fired from my job at the end of the month and I just had a check up where the doctor told me he thinks there might be an issue with my heart so he has to do more tests. Im trying to not freak out or get depressed about everything but its getting hard to look on the bright side

How do you stay positive?
  • Be realistic (about people and things). Nobody's perfect, including me. Which means compromise is a necessity.
  • Broaden my understanding of human nature. We're flawed creatures too. When we forget that, we make even more mistakes.
  • Remember many of the ideological guidelines we're taught in youth are just that: guidelines produced by flawed creatures, not absolutes to live by.
  • Prioritize peace of mind and share it when possible. Great minds need that peace to produce wonders. I can benefit from those wonders.
  • Understand that someone thinking differently is not innately bad for me. No harm, no malice, no foul.
  • Don't let media or angry mobs dictate how I should feel. Media tries to hide it's greatest flaws. Angry mobs just don't bother to hide theirs.
  • Never presume I'm always right. Adaptability is a virtue of humanity that gets hindered when we believe there's nothing more to learn.

I leverage off of the fact I've got exactly ONE existence to get through and it is up to me to be resilient and adaptable so I get the most out of it before I start hitting the end game phase (being an old dude with bladder problems and all that).

Some lives are harder than most. Eventually you just own that and work alongside the set backs. Existence comes at a cost and it HAS to be worth it because that's all there is.

  1. I don't. I struggle with it, struggle with vices, and still don't have a surefire answer. And I think that's okay; we're human.
  2. If I'm truly feeling negative, I try to just embrace that I'm feeling negative and pat myself on the back. Not even as a way to get myself positive, just as a way to acknowledge that yeah life is fucked up right now, I'm here.
  3. Letting your subconscious guide you. Your mind knows what it needs. In this instance, your mind thought to post on CE, which might lead you to the next place, to the next place, until little bits start slowly forming together and you realize you had purpose all along.
  4. If you're in the trenches, try to learn something new, since you can't change anything that happened. How did your job go so wrong? Maybe you could remember to try and be more honest next time X situation happens. What's one way you could reframe your grandma's passing as positive (like, good memories, remembering her warmth, etc)? Maybe you could carry on some trait of hers she had in your own way. Your heart is in bad health. What's one thing you could do to change your future health? Maybe you could start small like fish oil or going on walks.
  5. People to talk to. Sometimes you just need to let out a little steam to someone as a way to reflect on what you're feeling or give you a little more mental space to do it. Not to mention the support someone might give ya.

Its a call center with kind of ridiculous metrics that you need to meet by the end of every month. Ive tried my hardest but I havent been able to meet some of them and now my supervisor is doing passive aggressive stuff and implying that I wont be working here for much longer

Sucks, but I'd start looking for a another job sooner rather then later if I were you. Or just accept the layoff, apply for unemployment and get some much needed R&R for a while.

At any rate, it helps to remember that things *have* to improve within the next 3-5 years. Even Biden and Fauci can't fuck shit up that badly. Then it's just a matter of waiting things out.
