I really liked the game. That, Spiderman and HZD are probably my favourites of the PS4.
Very smooth. Great world design and aesthetic. Some of the best sound in any game I've ever played.
I thought the combat was fine, but not excellent. The depth probably isn't there compared to the previous entries, but as someone who is more superficial about these games it worked better for me overall.
The story was good except for the later few hours and "final boss", which I thought dragged out and were disappointing. The ending itself and epilogue part was good though.

The entries constantly criticized as square square triangle had depth? That's the first time I've heard someone refer to them like that instead of the other thing.

Using the shoulder buttons for attacking is starting to get less weird once combat starts clicking a little more.

The depth was present in those games for sure. Of course there were a bunch of "first-order optimal strategies" that were quite effective and very easy. The second and third games had quite a lot there if you were looking for it.

Like most people, I never went that far into it.

Oh wow. So the witch in the woods is freya herself... I was like nah she can't be some important god but turns out she was... so obvious facepalm.

I have to say I'm kinda glad the game didn't end after we reached the summit, with all respect to Atreus and Kratos' frustration, because it would have felt bit of a gyp for the game to end so quickly. I hope we still have a lot more to go, I'm enjoying my time with it.

The kid is annoying af and you will actively how for his death until about 4/5ths of the way through when he finally gets some character development.

Also the addition of Mimir is super welcome, I love the extra dialogue and new dynamic he brings to the table.

Ok wow. This game really is amazing. Nothing against those super 2000s games but this one blows them out of the water. It's so much better.

Out of curiosity is Kratos the same voice actor from the old games?

No. IIRC, Phil Lamar used to voice him. The new guy is Ronan(?) from Stargate.

Well he's pretty great. His voice has gravitas and he makes Kratos compelling to boot

I'm still mad about how the Blades of Chaos were literally just stashed away in Kratos's home. Could've had more fun and varied gameplay right from the start but nooooo, Kratos just had to be a complicated character who remains haunted by his bloody past. *grumble grumble*
