Why should this be enacted? I'm not racist, but there is not a single black person alive today either has been or has ever known a slave

First off, thats not true at all. It is possible to have an elderly person today have a grandparent that was born into slavery. It wasnt that long ago.

Secondly, slavery and the following decades after prevented slaves and their descendants from building generational wealth while others were able to do so using the labor of those slaves.

Slavery ended 155 years ago, you'd have to find an elderly black person who is in at least their 80s, and would have had to have been around when their grandparents were around, which would have made them over 100, let's say you had a black person who was a slave in 1860, and they were 14, that would have made them born in 1846, by the time their grandchildren were born, they would have been 94 years old, seeing as how an 80 year old black person would have been born in 1940

Your second point is also false, there is nothing stopping people of color from being millionaires today

Slavery was abolished in 1865. Someone born into slavery in 1860 would be 5 years old when it was abolished.

Someone 80 years old now would have been born in 1941, and 5 in 1946.

It is very possible for that person to know an 86 year old relative that was a slave when they were 5 years old.

And if you dont understand the concept of generation wealth and how much of it was built on the unpaid labor of slaves, nothing I can say will ever help.

And what about my ancestors? They were slaves, and I'm white, so where's my reparations?

It goes beyond slavery though, even free black Americans had their own designated water fountains and bathrooms until the 1960s, they weren't slaves, but were still treated like garbage and inferior to even share a toilet with a white person. Same with Sundown towns, where if a black person had to leave certain towns before the sun went down or the police were welcome to hang them from a tree for existing and being in a "white town." It STILL goes on in back woods redneck hick Southern states.

The ongoing treatment of them being shit on the white man's shoe went deep into our nation's history, and long after the slaves were freed. It's sickening. I support this concept entirely.

This is much deeper than slavery, this country has stolen wealth from black people for centuries. It didn't just stop at slavery, which lasted 250 years, it is also about what happened afterwards with Jim Crow which lasted another 100 years, Black Codes, peonage, redlining, share cropping, etc. Many of the thousands of lynching victims were successful business owners and land owners.

The idea of reparations is recompense for the policies enacted and enabled by the government, and the local, state and Federal governments are all culpable.

It wouldn't be worse than the violence that occurred during the Civil Rights Movement. Most white Americans thought that black Americans were asking for too much back then, even in the heat of Jim Crow.

The US government has dispersed reparations to other groups decades after injustices.

Also if you sent the military in against them, you'd only serve to further victimize them in their minds. "EVEN THE GODDAMNED GOVERNMENT IS AFTER ME. GODDAMNED [redacted] RUINING EVERYTHING FOR THE WHITE MAN AGAIN"

And no amount of education or explaining will get the actual racists to understand and it won't stop them from turning the disinformation campaigns up to 1100 and recruiting more and more otherwise normal people into their causes.

But his point does stand though.

Either you have to prove that your ancestors were slaves, which would create INSANE division in Black communities and cause even more violence within their own communities, or you cut a check to everyone based on their skin color, regardless of if their ancestors were ever enslaved. If you're still going with it ostensibly being about "reparations for slavery" and not "reparations for all the suppression the Black/POC community as a whole has suffered"

At the end of the day, there is no scenario where paying reparations doesn't end in somebody dying as a result of it.

Reparations should absolutely be given to descendants of slaves and individuals that suffered from Jim Crow and the events of the civil rights movement. Anyone that has been handicapped by the government because of their race should receive compensation. I wouldn't have an issue if they did the same for Native Americans, Chinese and Mexican people that had similar treatment.

https://guides.library.umass.edu/reparations

I doubt all hell would break loose if reparations are paid. It's not difficult to find out who is descended from American chattel slavery and most black immigrants came to the states after the 60s. If anything American reparations to African-Americans would spark a reparations movement across the diaspora to the various European powers that financially benefitted from slavery and exclusion of black people from wealth accumulation, in addition to colonialism.

You can't imagine an America without slavery (and the wealth that it accumulated as a result), and the subsequent discrimination against African-Americans reinforced by the government for generations afterwards. There needs to be recompense.

And prisoners of war leading to slavery is a separate thing entirely. And that's hardly a thing that booming industry's and civilized countries are attempting to bring back or prop up.
