No one has said anything that makes me want to never see a word from them again in the almost 15 years I've posted on this board. And quite frankly, I find the people who have a long ignore/block list to be very antagonistic and don't recognize the effect they have on others which leads them to have sour experiences and overusing the block list. Yes, the person should take responsibility for their words if they start flaming you, but you still have the ability to influence and lead a person in flaming you or making peace with you.

Remember how, in the 80s, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind got edited down and shortened into an American movie called "Warriors of the Wind?" They cut out a bunch of story details and completely changed the dialogue to make it a generic action movie for kids. It robbed the original movie of its heart and soul.

That's exactly what it's like when you ignore/block people on CE. You're gutting the experience.

I have 70 people on the ignore list. A healthy mix of covid deniers, the right wing trolls that go through an account a week, and cop bootlickers during the george floyd protests

A lot of them are banned now though, so it's probably about time to clean it out

no, I didn't miss the point. they made a dumb assumption. every other post ISN'T that, so I don't know where you get those stats from. I can easily ignore the posts related to sexual assault and not comment on them - it's the same thing as ignoring. That's what I do. I don't read it, and I forget about it.

If you genuinely think "every other post" is what you say it is, then you don't know what you're talking about. Unless you were exaggerating, which you were, so yeah

also, when someone suggests that I laugh at sexual assault, then yes, I do take it as a personal affront. because it's an objectively dumb thing to accuse someone of with no basis for doing it. But that's why I come to CE, like I mentioned. To laugh at posts like this
