There is no way they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Chauvin intended to murder George Floyd. Throwing those charges of 1st and 2nd degree murder was stupid in the first place.

He may get negligent manslaughter or something. If the jury isn't terrified that the mob burns down their houses and threatens to kill them. But in that case it could be a mistrial

Do you live in an urban area? I'm in a pretty rural spot so I'm not concerned.

Hes getting convicted and going to jail. Judge made sure of that when he restricted the testimony from the pulmonologist about carbon monoxide being a possible contributor to Floyds demise being used in the presence of the jury. Id be shocked if Chauvin gets acquitted of the charges at this point.

If the jury isn't fearing for their lives they won't convict him of first or second degree murder. Even the state provided witnesses and prosecutors couldn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt first and second degree. Charging him with those in the first place was shortsighted and bound to lead to this.

Then the sensationalist headlines will read "Chauvin acquitted" and all hell will break loose (in urban cities anyway)

Im pretty worried he walks, the same way cops always do, because its not gonna be a good time out here if he does.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if responding emergency personnel, not just police, became free game during the riots.

During most of the trial I thought he'd get full exoneration but last few days of trial I leaned closer to 60/40 he gets manslaughter.

I dont see Murder 2 or 3 having a chance of sticking

Chances are slim to none. The murder charges were pointless to begin with, and manslaughter doesn't seem likely either. Moreover, no legal team will let the political pressure this case is under slide so even if a conviction happens, it'll be contested and appealed.

They really need to be, though. Only by waking up to reality can we get more people angry and active fighting to change this.

Granted, it's still unpopular as heck to support disbanding the police. But at the very least, it's encouraging seeing more people saying that all the policy changes in the world are a waste because you can't reform the police when the issues have to do with the very job itself and the types who are drawn to the job.

Police deserve to be punished a lot harder for the same crimes than a citizen would be punished for

But instead, they're near always acquitted, sending the message that their misconduct is acceptable.
