There's a difference here between landlords who need the rent to pay the mortgage and landlords who are just collecting profit. That's why mortgage freezes should be implemented as well as rent freezes. Won't hurt the for-profit ones too bad and the ones relying on the rent won't have to worry about mortgage payments

Even if you give the house to the renter for free it's unlikely they can afford it. The thing about home ownership no one tells you is how expensive it is to do upkeep.

I think for most people, they still owe all that back-rent which is dumb. If they couldn't afford the rent then, they likely can't afford the rent now.

Assuming $1200 rent, that'd be like $14,400 all due at once lol.

They dont personally manage the property themselves, so they arent actually the manager is a stupid argument and actually proves that you have no idea what youre talking about, or you do and are just trolling

The property manager who manages the property is still managed by the landlord, who also handles all the financial stuff for the most part, including utilities and internet and what not. They are managers, who rely on others for mostly hands on stuff such as maintenance.

Im a tradesman and INCREDIBLY handy. I can change water heaters, change out air handlers and condenser coils. I just renovated my entire bathroom myself.

the cost of materials alone and the time goes beyond what your typical renter will be able to do and afford.

so you give these buildings and homes to renters, great! Now what happens when a pipe bursts? A water heater goes to shit? Your coil has a leak?

your talking thousands in repairs and maintenance and general up keep on top of mortgage and taxes. This is something renters have zero concern of for the most part.

your AC went? Call the landlord and its fixed. No cost to you. Leak somewhere? Call the landlord.

electricity out? Main distribution panel corroded and needs to be replaced? Hope you have about 3k laying around in an emergency fund to fix.

unless you like living in absolute filth and squalor, sure home ownership sounds great when you cant afford it.

then these buildings and homes go to complete shit and are abandoned.

You'd need the government to step in if you're expecting anything else than the automatic assumption, which is that the back-payments would stick indefinitely to that person's financial history if they didn't act on it.
