You didn't get one? So let me explain the structure and the story. My best friend works at waffle house and so does one of his other friend. My best friend is white and his friend is black. So I will call them Mr. White and Mr. Black, respectively.

Mr. White tells me he wants a promotion. The title for the job is "rockstar"Grill Op. Their is a total of three level of grill op:
  1. Grill Op
  2. Master Grill Op
  3. Rockstar Grill Op
He tells me that he does work what Mr. Black doesn't do. Stuff like going to different stores and different from district. He says Mr. Black doesn't do that stuff. He keeps asking the manager (let's call him boss guy.) who is responsible for the promotion but never gets back to him. Of course, Mr. Black is a rockstar Grill Op.

He went to one of his other managers and ask why does Mr. Black has a promotion when he doesn't do the stuff he does. The other manager says that he need ask boss guy. He told the other manager that boss guy is being racist and only giving promotion to black people only.

I told him he shouldn't have call out his friend like that, it is rather messy and could cause issue later down the road. He says he doesn't care. Is he in the right or am I? I did tell him to find a job with a different company altogether.

Work snitches and kiss asses are the worst.

If someone will cut throat at a joke job like Waffle House, imagine what'd they would do at an actual good job.

His friend did nothing wrong. It seems like he just doesn't go to other store. I don't know why. Maybe they never asks him to do it. But this could bite him in the ass.

The restaurant manager of one Waffle House doesn't particularly care if you go and help out another restaurant. The district manager and the other restaurant manager does. The district manager is not promoting grill people. The restaurant manager cares about their own store.

Then who promotes? What other factors would be considered in a promotion.

His actual boss. The restaurant manager of the store you actually work at promotes because that's the chain of command. It would be based on your performance in that particular store. Availability, performance and reliability wouod probably be the biggest factors

I'm assuming boss guy is restaurant manager and manager is like shift manager or something in this scenario.

Boss guy is the district manager. Well that's what he told me. How would you measure performance? Customer rarely gives feedback.

So boss guy is the division manager. The restaurant manager is another lady. That should help out a lot.

Wait is your friend the one who told this other manager that the head boss is being racist and only promoting black people cause if that's the case he's done. Accusations like that will basically end someones chances at anything if not handled correctly

Probably speed and not screwing up orders. They probably use some sort of target time from order to food being ready.

The district manager giving out promotions like that is weird. He's essentially running that location then, which makes me wonder what the point of a store manager is. Like the district manager shouldn't be at that single location everyday enough to even have an accurate grasp of employee performance. If that's how things are run then he definitely should leave.
