Weird how conservatives seem to now have excuses every time something legally doesn't go their way. First the voter fraud thing being bullshit, now latching onto statements from politicians for anonymous jurors to argue they only did it because they were afraid, even though there's no evidence to indicate this is true.

Really makes you think. When reality collides with your deranged ideas, it seems people just dig the hole deeper instead of accepting reality.

Wait, I'm confused. Are you saying Tucker Carlson is deliberately confusing people for his own idelogy's gain? I think you're confused. What about the left? Aren't they doing it too? Checkmate, atheists. If he was confusing people, which he definitely isn't, then it's probably only to trigger the left and point out their own hypocrisy. Not that he's confusing anyone at all.

I actually have no love for the left and the right, personally both parties need to rot away for all I care.

Both have done nothing, but cause problems for the country for decades and even before a lot of us were born.

What the fuck good is any of them honestly.

Pretty sure that's part of the rationale behind the US Military having a mandatory retirement age for General Officers (read: Anyone over Colonel). I mean, take a look at the history of war, specifically when a new technology came to the battlefield, and then look at how many old generals/lords (same thing far enough back) said "pft, it'll never work." WWI is a good example, none of them could get past the idea that running armies into each other didn't work anymore. Then there's the English wanting to avoid using firearms and keeping the Longbow as long as they could get away with.

Same in politics really. How many of these politicians are ancient and just voting status quo unless they get a serious benefit?

He's already explained there's plenty to be said about getting people with outdated ideals out. I disagree with him on... A lot, I'm sure, but I'm with him on that. How many of these old fucks will describe the internet as "a series of tubes"? These people, who need a full staff to manage their technology, and probably have no idea how it works, should not be making laws on technology. Plus the fewer homophobes in public office, the better.

Also, the term limit amendment is never going to pass. If you need any proof of that, look at the fact Ted Cruz keeps bringing it up. He knows it has no chance, but he knows plenty of people want that, so he brings it up, knowing he's safely getting points with voters while not actually putting his long term career plans at risk.

Chauvin is guilty, that's pretty clear. However, if the jury was only partially sequestered, they'd have seen news coverage, and possibly heard opinions on what would happen if they voted not guilty. Chavin's defense team is going to use whatever they can to get him off. If they don't, they're not lawyers worth paying.

There is 100% an appeal coming. I'm sure the Defense will complain about the partial sequester + Maxine Water's comments. They did ask for a mistrial because of it already

Extremely unlikely.
  1. The appeals courts are already stacked against Chauvin. When the judge originally dismissed 3rd degree murder charges, the prosecution appealed and the appellate court reinstated the charge.
  2. They have no evidence the jury was influenced by Maxine or the Sequester given how short they spent deliberating.

You can hope. This just feels like it went too smoothly y'know? Like I'm nervously waiting for an appeal to overturn it and have the nation explode.

Yea maybe thats it. I for sure thought they'd get him on manslaughter. Maybe both murder charges sticking is what is throwing me off. Regardless, glad he was convicted for his actions.

Involuntary murder and manslaughter in Minnesota does not require proof of intent or the requirement to show method of death. All that has to be proven for involuntary murder and manslaughter is that the act(s) taken caused the death of another human either involuntarily or negligently.

[Rightwing] Armchair lawyers are setting requirements for conviction that the prosecution and jury did not have to meet.

A cursory look at the statutes show he was guilty as hell. That is why it only took 10 hours to get a verdict.

609.19 MURDER IN THE SECOND DEGREE IN MINNESOTA.

https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/609.19

Subd. 2. (2) Unintentional murders. Whoever does either of the following is guilty of unintentional murder in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 40 years:

causes the death of a human being without intent to effect the death of any person, while intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict bodily harm upon the victim, when the perpetrator is restrained under an order for protection and the victim is a person designated to receive protection under the order. As used in this clause, "order for protection" includes an order for protection issued under chapter 518B; a harassment restraining order issued under section 609.748; a court order setting conditions of pretrial release or conditions of a criminal sentence or juvenile court disposition; a restraining order issued in a marriage dissolution action; and any order issued by a court of another state or of the United States that is similar to any of these orders.

609.195 MURDER IN THE THIRD DEGREE IN MINNESOTA.

https://tinyurl.com/23z2jfk9

(a) Whoever, without intent to effect the death of any person, causes the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life, is guilty of murder in the third degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 25 years.

609.205 MANSLAUGHTER IN THE SECOND DEGREE IN MINNESOTA.

https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/609.205

Sec. 609.205 MN Statutes

A person who causes the death of another by any of the following means is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $20,000, or both:
(1) by the person's culpable negligence whereby the person creates an unreasonable risk, and consciously takes chances of causing death or great bodily harm to another.

Lock him up and throw away the key. They'll probably parole him in a few decades though.
