Last summer nobody was vaccinated. Now a quarter of Americans are fully vaccinated, and almost half of Americans have had their first shot which provides some protection, including almost all seniors (like 80%)

So how is it possible the virus is still spreading as fast as ever? Yes it fell but that was because we had a holiday spike. I keep waiting for the death rate to plummet but we are still where we were a year ago somehow? How is that even possible?

But that ignores all the people that had the disease that are unlikely to get it again, and also that mostly older people are the ones who die, and the majority of them are protected against the virus.

Why would there be more cases now than last year? Thats what I dont get. The vaccine should be slowing the spread at least a little bit, shouldnt it? Even if 1 out of every 4 people who would have got it no longer can, that stops that 1/4 from spreading it
