Doesnt really seem like it, but maybe Im just not drinking enough. Seems like a week straight, maybe a day off, then another week on... for months straight; should do it.

not that Im actively seeking out withdrawal symptoms. More so surprised it hasnt happened

The topic title confuses me. You quit drinking and are asking if you'll get withdrawl because you're smoking instead? I think i'm missing something.

If your body is physically addicted to alcohol, the only things that will stop withdrawal symptoms are more booze or benzos, smoking won't do anything.

I didnt quit, just trying to limit intake.

sometimes we have bad weeks and we drink literally the entire week. Well take a day off, and then fall right back into the habit.

im wondering if smoking weed is somehow bypassing the withdrawal effects of no alcohol.

Nah. Doesn't work like that. I mean maybe it's possible pot might help some of the symptoms of it like nausea.

It's probably either:
1) You never drank enough that withdrawl is a problem.
2) It hasn't set in yet.

I dunno then. But it's not always gonna be like that. Your body will get more effected by it as you get older and your body weakens. I can guarantee you can't just carry this out the rest your life. That's exactly what everu addict thinks before they get slapped in the face by reality.

Alright. My intentions are good. This side of reliance sucks. And I'm on something that's way more easier to stay functional on. Alcohol is a whole other beast. Just be careful and done lean into it to remedy any mental problems.

yeah, theres definitely some reliance. Like it just feels part of the daily routine now.

as mentioned earlier in the topic, weve been trying to stick to weekends.

but usually doesnt work that well unfortunately

If you're on the lookout, shakes are usually the first sign, especially in the hands.

Nausea is another but it can be hard to tell the difference between "hangover nauseous" and "withdrawal nauseous" at first.

You drink a bottle of what every two days? And with how many people? Bombay, 3 people? Fireball, two people? Wine, 1 person? None of those are alcoholic levels.

How many of you are there? It's important to know how much you in particular are drinking. If you drink a bottle of wine every night with one other person it would take years to develop a physical dependence. Of course, your tolerance would go up and you'd likely start drinking more.

If you personally drink three 10% beers each time you drink, and you do that once, sometimes twice a week, you're not going to develop a physical dependency without increasing the amount by a lot.

If you're going through a bottle of tequila with three or four people every weekend, you and your friends get comfortably tipsy on beer during happy hour every Monday, and you drink a bottle of wine to yourself every other Wednesday, you're still not close to the level of having real withdrawals from stopping. But if you drink that much, your tolerance will definitely increase. It's a step towards alcoholism but it's definitely not there yet/

Having a higher tolerance comes long, long before having a physical dependence. Higher tolerances lead you drink more. That's where things really start to get dangerous.

it varies by day, but we can go through about 60-70% of a 750ml bottle in one sitting. Its just the two of us.

Yeah. If you're talking about typical 35-40% alcohol, and you do that an average of 2.25 times a week, you're nowhere near withdrawal levels yet. Just be careful that you don't start doing a lot more since your tolerance has obviously gone up.

trust me in that this disease is progressive and your problems are most likely going to escalate as long as you continue to drink. the farther along you get, the harder it is to quit. once you get to the point of physical addiction, it's really tough to stop. for over a year i tried to regulate / moderate my drinking and would do so briefly only to quickly fall back to my normal routine.

good luck in your journey, friend.

That one day is your body starting to wonder where there fuck it's liquor is

By the end of it your brain is curious about why shit is different, GABA B is all screwy or something and wine and beer (booze you don't normally drink) starts to look better.

Finally towards the end of day 2 your body is kicking back hard against the lack of alcohol. You might feel extra thirsty. In general and for booze. Hots and colds are worse and normal things are getting irritating

Finally at the end of day 2, your body understands it is getting its beloved booze and all is well

This pattern over time though has made your body cautious and probably changes the effect the booze has on the first and last day to first day consume quick and fast, get drunk quicker. And take it in slow and long on the last day before break. Keep it in the body as long as possible to ready for break day again.

Or something like that.

A bottle in 2 days is not heavy drinking, well depends on the size of the bottle and it sounds like you're sharing it with someone else too. Heavy drinking would be like a bottle a day to yourself.
