When I was 18, I finally decided to get a wallet. I gathered up all of my money and went to a mall.

I found a wallet I liked and bought it. I was happy.

Only issue was I spent all of the $20 I had on the wallet, so I didn't have any money to put in it right away, lol

I bought a Power Rangers wallet with a holographic Red Ranger on it back in elementary school.

I used my dead grandpa's wallet for the longest time. I also remember buying a wallet at the mall at some point too.

My dad gave me a denim velcro wallet when I was like 5

Didn't get a nice adult leather wallet til I was 18 and my girlfriend (wife now) got it for me because she was sick of hearing the velcro rip open every time I bought stuff lol

I bought my first wallet like 3 years ago for a trip. I didn't like it at all. I never use a wallet because if you lose your wallet you lose everything. I take what I need with me in my pocket. I've never once lost anything as a result.

I always had pretty cheap generic ones. Nowdays I just use a phone case with a couple of card slots in the cover.

My first was a navy canvas trifold with Velcro on it.

Bought a leather bifold when going to high school and it had a coin purse which i kept a lot of quarters inside.

I had a black leather one with silver snap on buttons and a chrome chain I got from my brother.

I always got them as gifts, so my current wallet is the only one Ive ever bought for myself. Its super cute though.

Honestly? No. I've had a wallet in my pocket ever since I was 10. At some point I bought my own wallet, but it wasn't something that stuck in my mind.

I just get plain black. I might get those RFID card holder. I only carry $20 cash on me at most which is spent on haircuts cause they only take cash.

i had a cdg wallet but its so bulky I went and got those alternative ridge wallets. the only downside is taking cards out can be difficult

In one of the best anecdotal examples I can think of in terms of how the general public's perception of video games changed over the years, I bought a Super Mario 2 hologram wallet in the late 80's. I loved it, but was teased mercilessly at school over it, and stopped using it. A decade later, my kid brother dug it out of storage and started using it; all his classmates loved it.

Yeah, I remember being called a nerd in grade school because I was good at video games.

I went to college and was sitting in a class... I got bored and decided to play my GBA SP. I was playing Super Mario Bros. 3 and got to the first boss. I knew how to time the jumps so that Mario ends up above the boss the 2nd and 3rd time and killed him within a few seconds.

I immediately heard "OOOOHHHHHH WOOOOOOOW."

I had no idea that everyone behind me was watching, lol

Heh, nice. I started college in 2001 and it felt like that was about the time people started warming to gaming culture and being more open about enjoying it. The SNES / PS1 era may have produced most of my all-time favorite games, but there was something magical about the early-to-mid 2000's. Graphics were finally starting to become realistic with the PS2 / XB / GC (which helped hook casuals into taking an interest), local multiplayer was in its prime, and gaming culture hadn't quite yet become synonymous with internet culture, meaning you could simply enjoy / discuss games with other people without the constant feeling that you had to defend your preferences and nitpick everything else.

Sorry to go off-topic, just felt a bit nostalgic all of the sudden.

First wallet I had I can't remember if I bought it or was given it, but it was a blue tri-fold velcro wallet from London Fog. Currently using a leather wallet I got from my grandpa.

Feels like video games started to become more accepting in general in the mid/late 90s.

I used to rock my final fantasy 7 pre-order cloud shirt a lot in 8th grade 97' and actually got a good bit of compliments about it. That and questions about what final fantasy was from some people.

One of my cousins bought me a wallet for Christmas when I was 12, used it up until this year. 12 years with that thing, only got rid of it because I wanted a slim card holder over that chunky bifold, still looked and worked just fine.
