I find I'm more productive and less stressed working from home. I don't want to commute 3 hours a day and spend $300 a month on trains any more. I can work like 8-7 no problem at home but 9-5 at work just feels so much worse. I hope they let us WFH most days.

My boss said its likely well be able to wfh most days for the foreseeable future simply because people wont want to come back if theyre forced into the office

Unpopular opinion but I actually disliked working from home. It made the day drag like crazy.

I have a sub ten minute "commute" though so driving to work doesn't bother me. Definitely wouldn't want to do 3 hours.

I hope we're the same. They did mention hybridization last summer but I have no idea whether that will be implemented or not.

Unpopular online maybe. But many people I know IRL are itching to go back to the office for similar reasons as yours.

Same situation for me. Really short commute and my office is really laid back (no dress code, chill atmosphere) so Im ready to at least start going in one or two days a week to mix things up

problem is I use a lot of hardware that Id have to bring back and forth

You can try looking a new employer in your field still does wfh. Or maybe you can discuss a compromise with your boss working a few days at work and a few at home.

Also 3 hours is a crazy long commute time. I hope you're at least reimbursed or paid per diam.

Yeah if my commute was shorter I would have less problems. 1.5h both ways takes its toll on you

Yeah they will be circulating more info about hybrid systems in the near future. My team is relatively chill and I know some people like WFH like me, so I'm hopeful that we'll be able to WFH regularly.

My 1.5 one side commute is on the higher end, but nothing outside the norm for where I live

i need to have this conversation with my employer too. they're actually a really good employer who are happy to accommodate to their employees needs, and i feel strongly that it's better for my mental health to work from home, but they also don't have any real reason to continue wfh other than to be nice, so it could go either way.

it's not a conversation i'm looking foreard to, because if it's a flat-out 'no' i know i'm going to be pretty depressed on my first few weeks of working in an office 5 days a week again.

because I DON'T like working from home

My work is going to have some departments work from home for the foreseeable future due to cutting back on space and not having enough room for everyone.
