If they wanted someone to be "new" to everything to explain to the insignificant amount of people who have never heard of MK, Jax and Sonya were right there! They were simply military before all this, they didn't need an original character!

They also totally wasted Goro on him, in my opinion. That could have been a big, epic, triumphant fight for someone down the line instead of being used in a throwaway fight. Use someone like Baraka in that slot.

I still liked the movie, but that irked me.

I would've rather they just made Johnny Cage biracial to accommodate the actor playing him. The washed up MMA fighter backstory was pointless.

He was someone's OC that they had to get into the movie to satisfy their own ego

He was the worst part of the movie - the actor wasnt great but it wasnt really his fault. Character was just stupid. If theyre so concerned about a main character they should have made it Raiden or Sonya.

Putting Cole in a highly perilous situation with his family in imminent danger was the 4D chess move by Raiden to unlock Coles arcana, or whatever ..

That's what I thought he'd be. Could have him be the "new guy" while still ultimately being a part of the kast.

It would also have given them a reason to have Scorpion in the movie more as he goes after Cole to get Bi-Han's attention, then you could get an eventual "Lmao who gives a fuck about my descendants" from Bi-Han followed by Cole and Scorpion teaming up to take him down.

Cole unlocking his powers and beating Goro would have been cooler too.

I think he should have been the new Scorpion

They could have had him be "killed" by Sub-Zero and for old Scorpion to possess him so they can comeback for a proper grudge match in the next film.
