Got myself a set of 2 whetstones with 4 textures. 400/1000grit, and 3000/8000 grit.

I used the 400grit for about 15 minutes until all the knicks were gone, then moved to the 1000grit for about 10 minutes to sharpen the knife, lastly the 3000 for a fine polish. I got the set last week, and started with my 3 main knifes, which just needed to be sharpened. My friend gave me his damaged knife this morning so it was the 4th knife I ever worked on. I'm pretty satisfied with the results, but will definitely need some more experience to improve my technique.

Honestly, the feeling of using a freshly sharpened knife in the kitchen is so damn nice. If any of you are seasoned cooks, do you sharpen your knives yourselves, or do you give them to be sharpened?

This. Now that I think about it, probably glass cutting board.

Also I have a sharpener, but not a whetstone. I don't think I'd have the patience for one.

Lastly, good job! You brought it back to life

Honestly, no fucking clue. My friend blamed it on his dad. Said he using a honing rod on it (which is obviously not what you do with this type of metal) and put it in the dishwasher which explains why the logo looks translucent.

I honestly really enjoy using the whetstone. There's something therapeutic about it.

It felt amazing. We tested it on an onion before and after. It was like day and night.
