Sharla is such an amazing character, in most RPGs she would shine as best in the cast. She's the worst in xenoblade too, and also there's almost a shame in using her since the game has so many more unique ways to play that dont require a party healer like sharla

Sharla's problem is that she more or less disappears from the story after her personal arc is over. She's pretty great whenever she actually has lines.

I thought that Sharla stays relevant in cutscenes longer than Melia and Riki do, being the medic she has a fair amount of interaction with Fiora on Mechonis and her Gadolt stuff ends pretty late in the game. But yeah overall she could probably lift out of the plot and not affect much.

I really enjoy her personality and VA (her response to the Riki quote up here is great). I think her limited popularity is probably largely gameplay-related, but also down to the fact that of the three outsiders in the crew (Sharla, Melia, Riki) she stands out the least and has the least going for her. I agree that she would stand out a lot more in a game with a less impressive cast.

Am I the only one who literally couldn't figure out how to get past 90% of the bosses without Sharla? Granted I was kind of rushing through the game, but she made everything much less frustrating for me.

I did all the sidequests so was probably a higher level for the boss fights, but she was a handy crutch for the few times I was underleveled. In general I found Riki's heal move to be sufficient when things got rough.
