My cousin got pulled into the Im a soldier, marry me so I can get bigger accommodations shuffle with her husbsnd and and she just had her second child.

My only impressions of her husband werent great but I do hope everything works out.

My poor uncle had to see his only child move overseas and couldnt see his first grandchild very often.

Hes such a Baby Boomer tough guy but hes a different person when it comes to his daughter and grandson that it broke my heart to know just how hard them living overseas affected him.

Hell yeah it is. Bigger pay check as you get BAH which means you can live off post. Which is great since that means you don't have to deal with the same bullshit your unit has to since you're not there with them 24/7.

Yes.

For servicemembers who have dependents (wife and kids), or make the rank of E5, the military provides Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). It is an additional, tax free, allowance on top of their salary to provide them with private housing for their families. Occasionally, lesser ranked enlisted can get BAH if they need to make room for new people in the barracks.

The amount paid is based on the average cost of living in the area they are stationed and the servicemember can keep excess funds. So, if you are stationed in an area with a BAH of $2000 and you only have to pay $1500 for your rent, you can keep the remaining $500.

Alternatively, they have the option of living in privatized housing on-base, but that costs 100% of the BAH regardless.

I hear that army men have a higher chance of contracting an STD than in any other occupation in the world.

The main factor here though is income and time. All they're basic necessities such as money, housing, health, and even daycare are provided for by the army.

And being aware from friends and family on top of that gives them ample opportunity to cheat, spend and have fun at their leisure. Plus the number of enlistment who give their spouses full power of attorney is....surprisingly high.

It's kind of sad, but expected that during my time in service the army went go out of it's way to educate their soldiers about buy expensive cars, basic financing, codes of conduct and etc. But never anything regarding marriage and possible worst case scenarios to come.
