Yes, it must be frozen. Looking for something I can keep in the freezer, for when I dont want to plan dinner, and can just throw some frozen burgs on the grill.

Idk if this is easy to find but the local grocer near me has a frozen 8pack of 0.5lb angus burgers for $20

Do the math here and youre getting $2.50 per patty for half a pound of good quality shit.

This.

Easy enough to make some in advance and freeze them. And they're gonna be 50 times better than any frozen patties.

You cook them from frozen too so no defrosting necessary. They are surprisingly good.

I guess I could try making my own patties and freezing them.

Currently, we just buy the 4packs of pre made, fresh patties.

Get a ring mold with a diameter a little bigger than the final size you're shooting for, and you can make a bunch of uniform patties.

Lay out some parchment paper, you can probably do two rows of patties depending on the width of the paper. Stack em however many layers high you want, throw it in a container, then into the deep freeze.

The cool thing is that you can put whatever you want into the burger mix. Having some chopped chipotle burger patties on deck sounds fucking fire, I might do this now that I've typed it all out lol

Private Select (Kroger brand, available QFC, Fred Meyers, Ralphs, King Soopers, a few more) brisket and chuck blend is my favorite frozen burger I've found. There's also a pre-seasoned "Traditional Steakhouse Angus" by them that is good and a prime rib that is has good taste but lacks in the texture IMO.

Usual price for them is 6 1/3 pound patties (2 pounds, 32 oz) for $8.99. Their "real" price is $10.99 or something but they are only full price like 1 week a month. Go on sale sometimes for $5.99.

Fresh is of course best. About $7-8 a pound at my butchers so it is even more. But ground fresh that day, they have a large selection, 70% lean to 95% lean, various mixes. I do a 80% lean chuck, sirloin blend that uses rib fat get to the 80%. I like cooking to medium / medium well, just a hint of pink.
