Sounds like occasional, minor outbreaks do occur in the US, mainly in the southwest, each year though. Which is almost kind of reassuring in a way.

It's also not really a big deal, because that particular disease is fairly easily treatable with minor antibiotics. The main reason it was such a dramatic killer in its time was the fact that medieval people didn't have penicillin.

The first time there was a SARS scare (we are currently in the 2nd) all we needed was Campbell's chicken noodle soup, DayQuil, and Sprite.
