What a fuckin mindfuck. Didnt make ANY sense, in a beautifully abstract and artistic way. Acting was amazing.

movie was so creepy and you have no idea where its going because it doesnt make any sense. I said about nine or ten things throughout the movie that I assumed it was a metaphor for.

I think this is about suicide
this is about addiction
this is clearly about dementia and Alzheimers
maybe this is about sexual assault?
uhh.. is it just supposed to be about dreams?
is this about criticism of media?
wait is this about multiple personalities?

shit was nuts. Happy I finally watched it.

Jesse Plemons is clearly the second coming of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. From observe and report to Friday night lights to Fargo to this.. he can clearly do any genre, and is great, and kinda looks like PSH

I saw the FoundFlix video on it. The movie didn't look like anything I would enjoy watching.

Idk what that is.. but I think it definitely is something that if youre not into it right away, dont watch it. The story doesnt follow a story, none of it makes sense. Its just a crazy abstract mind bending movie

I feel like by the end of the movie, it makes sense. At first I was thinking it had something to do with Alzheimer's, but I think it's made pretty explicit that it's a fantasy construction of an old man imagining how things could have gone with a girl he was attracted to but never actually approached at a critical point in his life. It was one of my favorite movies of 2020, possibly my favorite. I expected it to be weird and not a conventional narrative because that's what Charlie Kaufman does.

no

it absolutely did not make any sense

you can connect certain dots.. but the whole time you cant be sure of any of those connections because of how crazy it was.

after I watched an explained video after I was done with it, that ending made sense, but its not a conclusion that myself or my girlfriend would have ever come to.

I think this is about suicide

Well thats what its about. The course of the movie is a double entendre of the dudes fantasy of a life he wanted but could never have and he constantly thinks about killing himself

the end of the movie is him, at the very least, attempting to commit suicide by freezing to death in his truck. There's some point earlier in the movie that says something to that affect like 'it'd only take x amount of minutes to freeze to death' when they find the goats in the barn. He sits in his truck, starts hallucinating, and takes his clothes off like people in extreme hypothermia do.

Whether he actually leaves his truck and actually gets warm in the school is up for debate, but given the state of his truck in the end scene it seems pretty likely that he's dead in the buried truck.
