The shocking pass of CW's Powerpuff Girls live action reboot has people wondering just how big of a miss it was for execs to pass...and CW Exec, Mark Pedowitz answered that and said it was a HUGE MISS!!

He is however giving ALL those involved including Chloe Bennett, Dove Cameron, Yana Perreault and director Diablo Cody to make another run at it and said "We believe in the cast completely, we believe in Diablo and Heather, the writers in this case, the pilot didn't work"

Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier wrote and directed the pilot based on the original Cartoon Network animated series created by Craig McCracken.

It follows America's pint sized superheroes who are now disillusioned twenty somethings who resent having lost their childhood to crimefighting

He said that they needed to do this pilot justice to the popularity of the series though he didn't say what needed to be reworked but said it felt too campy

He said they needed to take a step back and to go back to the drawing board to see what went wrong and try again with this powerful property

It comes just hours after a purported script was leaked on twitter and gained negative attention which described their sex lifes and edgy attitudes though Pedowitz didn't verify if it was legit

The Lost Boys tv series also had concern from CW execs who felt the original pilot filmed in Vancouver didn't quite work and gave them another chance to retool as it was a Passion Project for Pedowitz.

But after refilming the pilot with Twilight director, Catherine Hardwicke and NEW actors in North Carolina, it still didn't impress execs and they chose Kung Fu instead which turned out to be a hit for the network.

Even in his interview talking bout the problems he completely misses the point. Which is that it wasn't campy enough, not that it was "too campy" smh. PPG is a campy kids show with entertaining action. This crap was trying to take itself way too seriously like CW shows are always guilty of. With their shitty angsty drama and trying way too hard to be hip/relevant schtick.

Realized I never hit post a few days ago >_< Anyway:

The concept is rotten. Changing Buttercup's race is just weird. The premise doesn't necessarily work in relation to the original series and would have made more sense if they picked either another franchise or did original characters.

Maybe a live-action could work, but not how the idea is laid out.
