It was my go to meal when I was hanging out in Mahjong parlors in Japan so I tried to replicate it. Mixing the yolk, the pickled pink ginger, the beef, the onions, the sauce with all the rice below was damn good. I will be making this again for sure!

Best Gyudon i ever had used raw yolk, I don't think it had ginger though, but i do like it in other beef bowls i had.

Looks good, though I would be iffy about raw yolk just because I really dont think Id like the texture at all.

looks great, yeah the texture of the yolk is the only thing that isnt quite right, but I can't imagine that's easy to replicate like the restaurants do

Looks good. My lady makes it with yolk too. Tonkatsu as well.
I like Gyudon so much I went to the original Yoshinoya by the docks in Tokyo. Tasted the same but the portions were smaller (their large is the U.S. regular). Also came with rice and miso. --- Not everyone is suitable to kill a lion - Maasai proverb. ... Copied to Clipboard!
