We've had this Ring doorbell for almost a year now. It occasionally acts up every now and then with black recordings. I've found that mostly it's triggered if someone rings the doorbell, then my gf and I answer it on the phone at the same time. That seems to make it black out permanently for some reason.

But just the other day, an annoying event happened. Someone rang the doorbell (gf didn't answer this time), and I tried to check it on my phone since I wasn't expecting anybody. When I attempted to answer it, the video was just loading forever and never appeared. I attempted to view the motion event right before that and got a black video. I went back to the event before that one, and it worked. Which was about 5-10 mins before the one that didn't work.

Shortly after that, the whole damn doorbell went offline. I never saw the video of who it was, but there was a still image of a person about to walk up to my door like when you open the app and it shows an image there. Wasn't close enough to make out who it was. After about 30 mins of it being offline (was busy getting ready to go out), I went to check on it. It had the white spinning light. Attempted to just power cycle it, but it came back up with the white spinning light. Googled it and saw it was in programming mode. Had to reprogram the damn thing to my account to get it to come back online.

I have the Ring 2 with the removable battery. I have noticed some weird things like what you mentioned with the black recordings when the battery gets low or if there's odd weather conditions. Usually just putting in a new battery works fine but if yours is wired up I'm not sure what it could be.

yeah. i noticed it was even worse before i ran a wire to my ring doorbell instead of relying on the battery pack entirely.
