I never had a loan on mine either.

My mom inherited a Lexus and sold it to me for $500 so it was practically free. I haven't had a car payment for well over 10 years and keep a certain amount set aside in case I need a new vehicle.

It is. It currently doesn't run though. Have to replace a cylinder head. Just might end up selling it because my mom is nagging me to sell one of my cars.

Hmmm my engine was solid, but oh god the electronics. Until my uncle ripped out the radio the battery died every two days. Go figure that since my aunt has owned it its been bullet proof.

2014 Subaru forester xt paid for already (bought it in 2013 new) it sucks on gas though, I get about 23 mpg on 70% highway/30% city driving

next car I get will need to be more gas efficient though coz right now Im burning 300 miles a week in my round trip commute to work , anywhere from $225-250 on gas spent a month

I had a 2012 honda civic lx fully paid for. I sold it cuz i did not use it. Was a nice car but i had a feeling it was gonna break down soon. I had to get the transmission fixed and my folks said that means the transmission will be bad in the future. So i am glad i sold it. I kind of want a beater car or just to use public transport. I am mostly at home or around my town so i do not really need a car other than luxury, and the taxes are a pain in the ass plus the emmissions every year or two, then theres the red light tickets and cop stops. In general i think you are better off using public transport if you can, better for your health, environment and pretty fun too.

Not to get off topic , yeah public transport in big cities with good transportation systems (New York city area, Bay Area, maybe Los Angeles are the major city areas Ive been to in the USA) and if youre job is within the city in more smaller towns/cities with local public transport. Most people commute from out in the suburbs or countryside to work. otherwise American public transportation is the worst in the world for a first world country.

there are third world countries that have better public transport (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Philippines to name a few)

congrats. Im hoping to pay my house off in 2 more years. That should free up the mortgage interest Im paying now. Some people say its better to invest the money instead of paying off the house mortgage, but man nothing beats the feeling of paying off debt and owning it outright

True that. My interest rate is on the high side. I'd really rather not give them free money out of my pocket for 15 more years.

I'm generally good with money so was able to save up enough to get it done. After paying off the mortgage I'd still have $10k in the bank so I'm not too worried.
