The Mandela effect has always seemed like nonsense to me because I have always had a pretty high amount of knowledge of history factoids and I've always been aware that people around me .... don't.

I could tell half of the population that the civil war happened in the 1960's rather than the 1860s and they would believe it.

all the mandela effect taught me was that people would rather invent the idea of intersecting timelines and parallel universes than entertain the possibility that they misremembered something

oh, come on. enough of the population was literally alive in the 1960s there is no way half of people would buy that.

Its a version of history for people that don't actually know the history and melt headlines that they've seen in the past 30 years+ with Hollywood movies they've watched.

When they watch the youtube videos they aren't remembering false memories they are just skimming over the fact that they honestly don't know what has happened in the world in their own life time because they didn't care enough to read about it ...... ever.

I'm not going to call them stupid because I've known a lot of smart people in terms of my job (software development). Like master coders that are geniuses compared to me...... that couldn't name a single president from the 1980's let alone tell you about Nelson Mandela.

People can be astoundingly ignorant when it comes to history.

I shit you not. Try it in real life with people in bars. Just tell them about the civil war in the 1960s and mix in good old Abe Lincoln with the hippie movement most people will just nod and go along with it. I've done it. "Like totally they were protesting to end slavery man thats what woodstock was about".

All that means is you're originally from the universe we're all currently in. You're an og resident, unlike myself, who is from the universe that has Gordon's fish sticks, not your wierd Gorton's fish sticks.
