Just because a film is based on a property that already exists doesnt make the film itself inherently any less creative.

Seems really easy to see why liking both would be more beneficial than just completely writing off one or the other. You should leave yourself open to both instead of think picking a side makes you look cooler or more sophisticated. It seems insane to write off such a broad thing that so many things fall under the umbrella of.
