Oh man this was so damn hype. When you are 16 and see Yoda this mythical figure shuffle out and you finally get to see what he is capable of, and he just turns into a tornado. What a great moment. People dump on Attack of the Clones a lot and yeah there are a lot of problems there. But this scene was so good. I love seeing payoff from OT characters that were never portrayed well due to the tech at the time.

Every lightsaber scene is horribly choreographed. There isn't a single one in the series that looks like people honestly trying to kill each other.

Everything after the OT is definitely choreographed. Even the OT has at least some thought put into the fights, just not the "literally every move planned exactly beforehand" thing that later films have.

Pretty much. Too many movie fights look like both parties are just aiming their sword at their opponents sword (or where their opponents sword will be) over and over with no actual effort like they are trying to hit each other. No real counterplay. No normal flow.

That's why the sword fight duel at the end of Rob Roy is one of the most beloved in movie history, because it looks like they are trying to kill each other. No music. Realistic pauses in between strikes.

To be fair, the same thing could be said of virtually every sword fight in any movie...because actual sword fights ended in literal seconds, which would not be very interesting on screen.

This comes closest, which part of why that fight is going to sweep this series unless the stuffer gets spicy

That it being the emotional high point of the series

I do think Rey/Kylo vs. Guards also comes close to at least feeling like a legitimate fight, mostly due to the atmosphere, but some of the choreography doesn't hold up on a rewatch.
